This wine carafe is both stunning and practical. Th carafe's value and quality far surpasses similar carafes a Crate and Barrel and at a less expensive price. And it is a heavier weight. So, when Uncle George comes to Thanksgiving dinner and wants that third glass of wine, he will not inadvertently knock the carafe over spoiling both grandma's heirloom table and Thanksgiving dinner!Seriously, the carafe is lovely and well worth the price. I got mine today and it looks very good - more elegant than standard carafs without being frail. I'd say it was just what I was hoping for. While it is sold as a 500ml caraf, it actually holds 540 ml to the very top. 500ml is about 1.7cm (.66inches) below the top. It's 440ml to the very narrowest part. There is no line showing the exact 500ml mark as I have seen on some carafs. Overall very happy. I'll add, though, that the first one I ordered arrived shattered into dozens of pieces. It was shipped in a bubble type envelope with a small amount of bubble wrap wrapped around it. I was astonished Amazon delivery in that condition. Second one arrived fine. Neither had any cardboard to protect it, which surprised me.

It's an easy, and sanitary way to serve snacks, and the carafe ( use the half carafe, generall. Pepple can not put their hands in the bowl, but Have to pour.It also makes a nice presentation.i

Beautiful little modern carafe. Solid bottom and will not tip easily. I absolute love these and will be buying more to use on table for dinners. It's a great size- fits a wine bottle after 2-3 glasses have been poured. I use this for water bedside nightly. I think it has the perfect balance of heft to beauty: Thinner and it would not be as sturdy/solid. Thicker and it would be cumbersome or cheap feeling. I think it's absolutely stunning and perfect in it's balance. I know someone complained that there is no lip on the it to catch wine dripping down...but then neither do wine bottles (which is why servers at fine dining restaurants have towels on their arms, or you can just do the twist at the end of the pour). I love that it doesn't have a lip personally, it's part of it's modern design. Another style by Bormioli does so it may be an option if you are concerned about that.

The glass was sturdy and the look is attractive . It's exactly what I need for serve out for dinner parties , small gatherings , or maybe large with more of them . Very satisfied, and good value .Chef Gregory

Fit nicely in dishwasher. Have not yet tried it with wine, but i am guessing it is a good trade off for taste and EASY TO CLEAN.
