BTW I raped sections of tire hose held on with zip strips for padding on Gerry Cans. **Q: Is the bottom of this holder a solid bottom or just a lip that the can would sit on? If it's just a lip, what is the approximate width of the lip?** A: The bottom is NOT solid. There may be a small lip around the side, but I do not remember because the sidecar that this is mounted to is getting some repairs. But I do remember that the main support for the tank is two cross flat straps across the width of the holder that are apaced about a third way into the hoolder from each end. I use tyhe holder on an offroad idecar rig that get jostled around real well and the unit has held up. But I made two support bars that go directly under the staps to hold the entire holder more securly since that is alot of weight. My mai9n criticism is that the rubbger bumpers that are intended to isolate thge jerry an somewhat are mickey mouse affairs that will all fall off eventually. I had to make other bumpers out of foam, which works okay. Even with this problem, it is still a good buy and works well for me. **Q: The picture shows it mounted to an fj cruiser. thats what i have. is there a kit for that?** A: Im not certain of your vehicle without seeing it. When it comes down to it, its your personal preference on mounting. I bought a Smittybuilt mount and mounted in bed of my truck. They make several Jerry Can mounts and ive seen them on spare tire lugs. Best bet is research Jerry can mounts and find what best suits your needs. **Q: what are the inside dimensions of this can holder (width, length and height)?** A: Sorry, previous answer was "outside" dimensions..... I bought two. They are nearly perfect. The cans fit with a bit of extra room, but the strap secures them just fine. I mounted them to the A-frame of my trailer with self tapping bolts. Make note that you have to get your own mounting hardware. As mentioned by others, the rubber bumpers are almost useless; I plan to use them until I lose them and then use something with an adhesive back. Don't expect the lock hasp to stop someone determined to steal the cans, as the strap has several weak points that could be defeated with enough force. That said, the can won't come out of the holder bouncing down the road. My cans have the NATO offset spout, and a plastic clip that the filler clips into for storage. I actually welded a tab onto the strap that will hold the filler into the clip so I can keep them on the can and not lose them.
