I initially did a search for "leather folders" and this one popped up. The price was great; the colors fun, so I thought I'd give it a whirl, trying to imagine what "recycled leather" was.Well, it smells like leather. The outside feels like a cross between leather and paper -- thicker than paper, smooth, great color. Inside, you can see how it's recycled leather. It's as if someone took a lot of leather, ground it up into tiny bits, and then pressed it into the shape of these great envelopes.Bottom line: It's WAY sturdier than paper, great for putting folders that might get some abuse (like my purse), and easily holds at least 20 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 paper. I bought one in a classic ivory to bring with me on interviews to hold copies of my résumé and stash away thank you cards to write after the event. The leather is sturdy and substantial so that it doesn't lose shape and disfigure my papers while it's in my bag.I did have an issue with the fastener coming off. It's a simple fix as long as you don't lose the tiny parts; simply twist the pieces back together and you're good to go. The light colour of the leather makes any flaws and disfigurements on the leather highly apparent, so keep this in mind when choosing a colour. I have a tiny flaw on the surface from what is probably caused by normal purse jostling.I've received compliments from interviewers because recycled leather is such a cool concept!
