Autobiography of professional golfer John Mahaffey Review: Five Stars - Hogan's Boy, is a must read for ANY golf fan from the perspective of someone who spent his who life around the game. It is a story of a tremendous man and a mentor to a lot of us in the world of golf. Hogan's Boy is not another instructional yet it does teach us that there are many roads to greatness. It is real collection of heartfelt and compelling tales from a man who not only loved the game but the colleagues he competed agains on and off the course. This book will serve as a constant reminder that a great man has nothing to do with being perfect. Review: Not a particularly great book, but a good golf talent - Not a particularly great book, but a good golf talent. Some unfulfilled potential issues that could be behind this book.

one of several very good Texas golfers
I was a Houston club professional in the 1970-1998 time and remember John as a very good golfer. I thought the golf gods were against him when he outplayed Lou Graham but lost the US Open. Surprised he didn't visit Hogan in Ben's last years. I wish he would do more Golf Channel interviews. Maybe John is too blunt. But I like his frankness. A good read. Ed Sehl, PGA

A golfers book
Pro has written a wonderful story about his life and career. While there are terrific excepts from his relationship with Mr.Hogan you'll also enjoy his entire personal story. I'm a Hogan disciple so please understand my immediate interest in the title but don't be misled this is a good golfers book.

IT COULD HAVE HAD A BETTER ENDING IF JOHN WOULD HAVE PATTERNED HIS LIFE MORE CLOSELY TO HOGAN'S
IT WAS INTERESTING AND YET SAD TO SEE WITH ALL THAT JOHN WAS BLESSED TO HAVE GOING FOR HIM THAT HE JUST SEEMED TO BE RATHER CLUELESS... TO BECOME AN EXCELLENT BALL STRIKER AND FORGET THAT PUTTING IS SUCH A MAJOR PART OF THE GAME IS SOMETHING THAT REALLY CAME BACK TO HAUNT HIM THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER.. I WAS A FEWS YEARS OLDER THAN JOHN SO DO REMEMBER HIS YEARS ON THE TOUR QUITE WELL AND THEY ALWAYS MENTIONED HOGAN WHEN THEY HAD THE CAMERA ON HIM.. I THINK IT COULD HAVE BEEN MADE FAR MORE INTERESTING THAN IT WAS... IT IS QUITE APPARENT THAT HOGAN SAW WHERE JOHN WAS HEADING AND DECIDED TO CUT THE RELATIONSHIP OFF...
