The U.S. Motorized Ball Valve Solid 1" Brass with Auto Return is a blessing for many DIYers. The body and stem of this valve are made of brass. The valve will activate when AC or DC power from 9V to 24V is brought to it. The valve is normally closed, when powered on, it opens in 3-5 seconds. Then the limit switches will keep the power production at a negligible level. If the power is turned off, the valve will return to a closed position. Most solenoid valves are fully powered on when opened, which can lead to overheating. This valve takes so little energy once fully opened, so it will never be overheated. A: There is no input or output on a ball valve and can be orientated in any position or direction

A: I have mounted it under my van but surrounded it with a protective coating.
