I was skeptical, but it worked!
I've been suffering with plantar fasciitis in one foot for close to a year, and have tried stretching exercises and lots of rest, to no avail. So I got this NightSock in a last-ditch effort before I go to a podiatrist and get charged lots of money to wear a horrible full-foot brace for weeks or months. The first night I tried it, I used it as-is, with the plastic stiffener insert in the toes. I wasn't aggressive with the angle, I just wanted to try to get used to sleeping with it. I woke up after two hours, and my big toenail hurt like crazy, and I had to take it off. The next night I removed the plastic thing from the toe area, and tried it again. I almost made it all the way through the night, but again my big toenail took a beating, and hurt a lot. I did, however, for the first time in months, get out of bed and hobble around with much less pain than usual, so I was psyched about that. So the third night I decided to just loosen the strap all the way and wear it like a regular sock. That worked fine, and my toenail was happy, but of course it didn't do anything for me since I had the strap completely loose. So, the fourth night, I decided to try something slightly different. I again adjusted the strap so that my foot was held at a very comfortable 120-degree angle, and *then* when I put the sock on, I didn't pull it all the way up like usual. I just left like 1/2 and inch or so of slack in the end, so that my toes were really comfortable, yet it would still prevent my foot from extending past 120-130 degrees when I tried to point my toe. That worked! I got all the way through the night, no toenail pain, and the next morning when I got out of bed there was a very noticeable improvement. I kept at this for about a week, got very used to wearing the sock, and I was walking with much less pain during the day. I wanted more improvement, so I started tightening the strap 1/2" at a time each night, until I got to 90-degrees. I didn't go any further than that. After a couple of months, I am almost pain-free now! Sometimes I skip wearing it at night, but I do better the next day if I do wear it. I'm able to hike and exercise again, and I'm sure that in a few months I'll be able to stop wearing the NightSock altogether, unless I have a flare-up.

Tricky to get it to be comfortable, but it works!!!
This got rid of my plantar fascitis after everything else failed. Be sure to follow instructions and don't over-do it. It took a couple of weeks to go away for good, but I got some relief right away.

I got used to it quickly and it works!
It works! I don’t love wearing it, but it’s comfortable & it works. I paid a lot of money for orthotics and physical therapy that didn’t help with my plantar fasciitis, but this worked wonders! I would also recommend this for anyone who experiences chronic Charlie horse cramps because it’s helped with that, as well.

Made my big toe very sore.
I followed directions of not being aggressive with the strap. I started with a "neutral" position that would keep my ankle at close to a 90 degree angle. All through the night, I'd wake up because I felt pressure on the top of my big toe from the seam of the sock. I kept trying to adjust it and the only way I found to make it comfortable was to curl my toes towards my sole, which defeats the purpose of the stretch! When I took the sock off, the top of my big toe was red and sore. There was no way I could use this a second night in a row. I actually tried putting the sock on the following (third) night. I could already feel the pressure on my big toe. So I pulled it off. What a waste of money!Thankfully I have found some significant plantar fasciitis relief via a youtube video on prolonged stretching, which is totally FREE. It's been a game changer!

Had to Return
I have tried just about every different kind of night splint for plantar fasciitis. Unfortunately, this is one that I ended up returning. While the minimalistic concept seemed good, I found it to be very uncomfortable. It felt like it was pinching my toes. Also, the lack of support under my foot itself caused my foot muscles to strain more and led to waking up with cramps in that foot. I realize that eventually my foot may have adjusted to it, but I decided to go with a sturdier splint that braced my foot from underneath and long the back of my calf.

Better than the boot
I own a boot for my Plantars. It is big, bulky and uncomfortable to sleep with. But it works. I am going on vacation and neede something I could pack. The Nightsock fit the bill. I have found it it is very comfortable especially when sleeping. It keeps my foot in the proper position. I really like that I can walk in it when going to the bathroom. Can’t do that with the boot. It has taken a few nights for figuring out the best and most comfortable way to wear the sock. I can put it on I a couple minutes and I am dozing. One concern I had was a fear of the sock cutting off the circulation in my legs or feet. This has not happened. Being this sock is material, I wonder about how long it will last but it seems to be holding up extremely well. One great thing about the sock is it is small enough to pack in a suitcase so I can take it on trips. The only negative comment I have is the cost which I felt was a bit expensive but if it holds up it will be well worth the money.
