I find hand quilting to be relaxing but have no room for a quilt frame. I was used to the very large lap hoops that my mom had, but I couldn't find one online and was dubious whether this was large enough. It is plenty large, and is, in fact, easier to reach all the area I need to stitch at one time. It moves easily by unscrewing a toggle to loosen, and then tightens very securely without pulling too tightly. I like a little "give" in the surface when quilting. Its thickness and the inner ridge makes it very secure so the fabric never slips. I'm doing a queen size quilt now and it is very successful.

I was hand quilting a twin sized quilt with a 14" wooden embroidery hoop. I could do it but the outer frame didn't enlarge enough to make it easy to put the quilt in and the frame itself was only 1/2" high so it was flimsy for the weight of the quilt. I saw this hoop on Amazon. The first thing that attracted me was that the outer hoop could be expanded a lot more than my current hoop. It tightens with a wing nut. The frame is a lot higher and sturdier than my wooden hoop. It is plastic. I've used plastic embroidery hoops before and they always slip so I was skeptical but willing to try it out. The hoop arrived and I discovered that there is a ridge that fits into a groove where the two hoops meet. The quilt doesn't slip! It was easy to put the quilt into the hoop. Moving it to a different part of the quilt was a snap. There was a lot more room to work under the quilt now. The hoop is very sturdy and easy to work with. I love the way the outer hoop cinches down. The upshot of this is I did more quilting than I planned because the quilting hoop was so easy to work with. I definitely recommend this 14" quilting hoop.

I love this set of hoops. It is 100% smooth and feels good to hold. The closure works flawlessly and keeps the work tight no matter how much stitching you do. No shifting. Surprisingly light weight considering the size - like 12", I think. I am going to order a smaller set for smaller projects. I will tell you, if you do quilting, these will likely work out well for you. Nice product.

I’m not sure of the durability it seems ok but I’ve only used it once. It did stay put on 2 layers of fabric and batting. Seems sturdy and goes on easily. Doesn’t slide.

I use this hoop for large embroidery projects. It holds fabric tightly and more securely than any other I’ve found. That’s why I have multiples for working on different projects simultaneously. It’s big, but it’s the best.

This isa beautiful tool. The two halves fit together very well and are easily adjustible. I have a large quilt I am working on and this is not easy to do with a hoop, but at this point I have no alternative. The hoop itself is a winner.

perfect for handwork and stays locked in place

These Dritz hoops are really good BUT the colour of the plastic is awful. It looks like a fake tan gone horribly wrong.I have the same design of hoops by Morgan and although the 'beige-ish' colour these have is not very attractive either they are nicer than the Dritz. It's such a shame they don't come in the colourful colours that other plastic hoops do.They actually deserve 5 stars but I have deducted a star because I dislike the colour so much.

This item shipped quickly.. and arrived well packaged.I hadn't been able to locate a no slip hoop locally for thread painting on my machine.. This hoop is fabulous. It's made from a highly durable material and is quite strong. There is a groove between the hoops to keep fabric from sliding out of place (anyone who machine embroiders knows that taut fabric is a must).I wasn't sure it was going to fit under the foot of my machine (I have a janome high shank 9400), but I tested it out and I can indeed get it under the presser foot. This is a good size for machine free motion embroidery (12").I am very pleased with this product and USASuperstore.
