Sabatier Edgekeeper - fantastic!
I bought the Sabatier Edgekeeper for my son and he absolutely adores it. It's stylish and never needs sharpening due to the Edgekeeper cover. He loved it so much that I bought another Edgekeeper for my daughter when she moved into her uni accommodation, and she loves it too! Fantastic price too. Would highly recommend.

Did not stay sharp for long
I use my chef's knife multiple times per day, making all my meals from scratch. I really wanted a hard working knife that most importantly would stay sharp without having to use a steel or whetstone as those techniques are beyond me!This self-sharpener seemed a pragmatic and reasonably priced option. Good at that outset and I quickly got used to the bouncy chopping action which is great for veg prep. I even bought the small paring knife to accompany for fiddly/smaller jobs. However within weeks the blade became dull and would not penetrate, say a bell pepper. Despite use of the sheath and even a draw-through professional knife sharpener.I feel disappointed that this did not retain it's edge as promised.

Heavy and Thick
Quite disappointed with this knife. It is heavy but also the cutting blade is quite thick which makes it less easy to cut and chop food. It is also made out of one piece of metal - the handle and the blade. This somehow makes it cumbersome to use. Because the blade is quite thick I have found food tends to stick to it which is annoying. I have to scrape it off of the blade. To give it some credit, it is very sharp and has remained sharp. It is, however, not my go-to knife, which I had planned it to be.

Great knife, simple to always keep sharp !
Had this knife for a little while after reading a review here and taking the plunge. Very pleased with the knife, for only £20 (Sep 2020) I am very confident this will be used daily for many years to come and with the added bonus of always being sharp thanks to the in built pull through sharpener in the cover. I have a stand alone pull through sharpener which always kept my previous knife sharp until the edge crumbled after more than ten years but it was always an extra thought to get the sharpener out. With this, every time you reach for the knife the sharpener comes with it so you can always give it a light sharpen before each use or a few extras when needed without looking for a tool. Would happily recommend to anyone for the money, cant go wrong.

Not a genuine Sabatier (Made in China)
I was thinking I'm buying a genuine Sabatier knife, which are made in Thiers in France. This one is a cheap knock-off made in China.I'm not saying this knife is bad, but it is not Sabatier quality and thus not so cheap for what it is.Main differences to a genuine Sabatier:- Lower quality steel (blade is damaged easier)- Looses sharpness quicker (but the built-in sharping sheat tries to fix that)- It is heavier and thicker (making cutting less easy)- Certain food tends to stick on the blade, making thin cuts harderIt is still a sharp knife, but don't buy it for the name, since you wont get the quality assoziated with it.

Beautiful knife
Cutting up vegetables is a pleasure with this knife. It is pleasant to hold and use and is very sharp. The built in sharpener in the sheaf works well, but when using it to follow the curve of the blade, you have to be careful not to cut yourself. As with all sharp knives, be careful at all times!

First class product particularly with little skill, or disabled with weak wrists or hands.
Now ritired from a career as Exec. Chef. In my 70's now and disabled so the self sharpening element of the knife and sheaf is fantastic. This is something I would not of used or needed to but now for the disabled and those with little or no skill in sharpening a knife this is heaven sent. Good product, BUT BEWARE, IT REALLY DOES SHARPEN THE BLADE, So be ultra careful!

Sharp!
These Sabatier knives are the first “good” knives in my kitchen, and do they ever make a difference! The Utility knife is sharp out of the box, And has remained sharp since in spite of constant use. It fits well in my hand, is well balanced, and of course, looks awesome! Highly recommend!
