Another great soundtrack from Joe Hisaishi
I love Studio Ghibli films, and Joe Hisaishi has become one of my favorite composers. It's beautiful music with lots of character. If you love listening to movie soundtracks, I'm pretty sure this one will become one of your favorites (along with Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle). It might be helpful for you to see the song titles in English, so I'm listing them here:1. "The Girl Who Fell from the Sky" – 2:272. "Morning in Slag Ravine" – 3:043. "A Fun Brawl (Pursuit)" – 4:274. "Memories of Gondoa" – 2:465. "Discouraged Pazu" – 1:466. "Robot Soldier (Resurrection/Rescue)" – 2:347. "Carrying You" – 2:02 (Chorus: Suginami Children's Choir)8. "Sheeta's Decision" – 2:059. "On the Tiger Moth" – 2:3210. "An Omen to Ruin" – 2:1811. "The Sea of Cloud Under the Moonlight" – 2:3312. "Laputa: Castle in the Sky" – 4:3613. "The Collapse of Laputa" – 2:00 (Chorus: Suginami Children's Choir)14. "Carrying You" – 4:07 (sung by Azumi Inoue)

I especially love the last three pieces
I especially love the last three pieces. Joe Hisaishi is a master of music, and expertly blends eastern themes and western melody styles. Robot Soldier / Resurrection uses some of the same themes from Robot Carnival, where he was one of three contributors (not all the stories are top or happy, but they were somewhat groundbreaking at the time). What I like about the Japanese release is that it has more of the music, rather than a majority or a condensed version. The downside is I can't read Japanese, so I depend on wikipedia for the playlist, and the liner notes are beyond me. Great to listen to while I'm writing fiction. Have Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke, too. All highly recommended.

Great Japanese synth. Watch out for pirate CDs.
This is the Japanese version of the Laputa soundtrack, featuring the original synth soundtrack, which I much prefer to the American version.Watch out - I got a pirated CD when I bought this. It still has all the correct music on it, but it's not a legitimate release.

Elegant
This album is magnificent. The music is beautiful. If you have enjoyed other work Hisaishi has done for Miyazaki films, more than likely this will be no different. It's peaceful and melodic; then suddenly, it attacks with dazzling turbulence. I very rarely write reviews but the only other one did not do justice to this work and may have turned you away from something so marvelous.

Songs to Make Your Heart Sing
As others have written, this soundtrack is absolutely beautiful. The recurring themes are so special. I'd recommend this to any lover of Miyazki's films or great music.
