Sounds Like It's Defective
The media could not be loaded. I bought this for camping. Operation is simple. You can't use pans larger than 8.7 inches because covering the butane cylinder can cause it to overheat. It makes a noise that makes me think it's not regulating the butane flow properly, so I'm sending it back.
