Schaum's Outline of Discrete Mathematics, Revised Third Edition

Concise and Meaningful
This book is crisp. It was a delight to read for my discrete mathematics class. It's explanations went right into the material. There wasn't any unneeded information to distract you. It was gentle with it's presentation and it's non-intimidation encouraged me to explore further than the class required. The practice problems were very useful and there was never any ambiguity nor confusion about how the author got to the answer. Thanks to this book, it was easy to receive an A. If you are a professor or instructor who wants your students to succeed, make this useful book a requirement.

Good book
I bought this book to prepare for a Google interview. I got the job and start Sep 22 so clearly this purchase was worthwhile. The material is a bit dry but it is well presented and I learned a few things about probability and map representations. Recommended.

One of my favorite math books
I took a discrete math course in the early 1980s where the prof preferred to use Schaum's outlines for his courses because they were a fraction of the cost of traditional textbooks and nearly as good. He used this book as the text for his discrete math courses. I see the content is nearly identical with an appendix covering cryptographic topics.I liked this book and its progression through the topics. When my daughter took the same class a few years ago I suggested this book as a supplement.I understand that opinions vary greatly about the utility of Schaum's books. But there are two math books that stand out to me as surprisingly good. This is one of them and the other is the cartoon guide to statistics. If discrete math is one of your interests (and if you are taking any SW-related course it should be), then this is a good, cheap reference.

Professor used this as the textbook
Not sure if this is the most suitable book for a university level discrete mathematics course, but it did the job.Lots of solved examples, just enough information for you to pass the class and retain some information, but probably not much depth compared to other full fledged textbooks on this topic.

Nice problemary
I used in Discrete math classes and this little book helped me to understand better some procedures and techniques.

Good concept, BUT bad typos in very wrong places!
A Discrete Mathematics outline in the Schaum's fashion & style is certainly useful and sure one of its main advantages is pushing the reader towards further reading; just like other Schaum's titles, this one offers a good start and a big picture. Typos are never to be considered a mortal sin, yet I think it's unacceptable to find some in theorems' statements, thus yielding false theorems. As long as typos appear in PROVEN theorems, a watchful reader can sure spot them, but what about UN-proven theorems, whose statements are meant to be "just accepted" ? Crime. This is a math book! I strongly urge Mc Graw-Hill to publish an updated errata page for this book (and for any other title containing such awful mistakes). Bottom line: reader beware! Keep an eye on a different resource while checking this out, exspecially when it comes to statements.

Wrong answers, typos, poorly explained
I bought the cheapest used version I could find (~$5 at that time) but even that is not worth it.Every chapter has typos and the concepts are poorly explained. I had to look for YouTube tutorials for every chapter. Not to mention how much time I wasted in some of the problems where the answers had typos (in the end i googled the problems and found the “right” answers). And whats the point of having “467 fully solved problems” if you won’t even bother to explain the steps? The book is filled with theorems but not all of them have examples that help you understand its concept fully. And when there’s a problem that requires you to apply the theorem, they just say to apply the theorem as part of the solution but don’t take the time to break it down so you can learn how its being applied.I’ve always had good experience with Schaum’s but this book is a huge NO for me

The kindle version could use more love
The content of the book is five starts, but the kindle version should be better. There are some signs that don't visualise right, then there are also images that are not in the same order of the text.

NICE AND IMPORTANT WORK IN MATHEMATICS
This is indeed a very nice book for both college as well as university levels and various competitive exams like civil services exams , NET , GATE , etc. A must have and must read for every student , teacher , researcher and lover of mathematics .

this is honestly a really good and cheap textbook
Clear, concise, gets straight to the point. If you're looking for something to learn discrete math with, this is honestly a really good and cheap textbook.

High quality reference
Covers a large amount of material in a succinct and accurate way. It's not exactly stylish in presentation, but I have not found a better, more comprehensive source of quick reference for computer science related math topics.
