Very helpful guide to understand how your skin and hair color are best matched with your wardrobe. Stop wasting money on items that don't bring out your best! It's an old publication so some of the depictions are dated, but it's still a good explanation on how we all have a style of dressing that suits each person, too. When I started following the color guide I found I was able to easily scan racks of clothes and think, "yes, this color works for me" or "nope, don't even try on". Love it! I also bought the color wheel for my "season" which is handy to take along when shopping.

It's shocking that this book was written in 1984!!! There are so many timeless truths in here. I bought this book expecting to find information that was restricted to the 4 seasons but got much more out of it. I found it very wholesome. It's definitely a life changer in terms of understanding [your] style. I've understood concepts I knew subconsciously, I've learnt more about my body & style, I've understood what I'm doing right & wrong, I've understood why some things just don't work even when I continue forcing issues & I've acquired vocabulary that'll help me explain a few concepts to my friends. This book is a must read if you want to understand yourself & your style 😉

As a middle-aged transgendered woman, I know I do not fit the standard reader. But I found this book immensely helpful in discerning subtle color issues I had been guessing at. Ms. Jackson speaks to the reader in a quiet yet directive way, guiding the decisions to find colors best suited in clothing, hair and make-up. This book exceeded my expectations in providing nonjudgmental guidance toward understanding my own coloration and to developing a "feel" for my true color nature. I recommend this book to anyone who feels challenged by all the palettes and textures and cuts available in today's world. Though written years ago, her sensibility toward style seems timeless. I got lost a couple of times in her wording, but realized I was just needing to reread to get her meaning. I read this book when it was new and all the rage, in the early '80s, and I really enjoyed it. Back then for whatever reason I never could figure out for sure what my season was, though. I thought of the book recently and looked to see if it was still available. I was so happy to see that it was being sold on Amazon. I ordered it and read it through almost nonstop! It's a fun and easy read. I don't have any doubt now that I'm a summer! I have clothes shopped once recently and I couldn't believe how easy it was! Once you know your colors you can eliminate what doesn't look best on you and hone in on the right colors. And even better than that, nearly everything you have will coordinate! When I look at the grouping of right colors in my closet, it looks so harmonious, and I truly look and feel better wearing my colors. I highly recommend this book! P.S. If you're worried about the book being dated, it's not. Knowing how to dress yourself properly never goes out of style!

I had this same book back in the 80’s. I bought this for my daughter because she was wondering what type of “season” she was and wanted to expand the colors in her wardrobe. The book is a classic, but the principles are what the consultants use today. The book gives you the tools for the fraction of the cost. Although the experience may be what some look for, seeing a consultant, it’s totally okay. Not hating, I just know this book will not fail you

This is a must have to understand what color to wear, even though the style of dress and makeup is TOTALLY OUTDATED!!! But for a good laugh. But, this book is essential as far as the technical aspect of choosing color to wear... This book is a great book to understand and enter into the market. I bought the whole series and read them from cover to cover. This is not for the advanced student, but the beginner. I also think that fashion designers should have a thorough understanding of color theory, which is really not taught that much or well. It is also a very complex subject to learn and understand. BUT!!!!! There is hope!!! if you want to know about Color theory to get even better.... COLOR WORKS, the crafter Guide to Color by Deb Menz FOR ANYONE who wants to know about Color Theory this test breaks it down so that ANYONE can understand this subject. I learned more about color theory in this book than all others put together because I now "Understand" the concept. While this book is for the textile artist, ALL artists should get it and is also has cut outs to use when choosing your colour palette whether it be for Fashion Design or Art. This book is a MUST HAVE!!!!

Color Me Beautiful was written in the 80's, bearing that in mind, the book is decent. It offers the basic color pallettes for the Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn seasons and helps you determine with season is yours. It offers basic wardrobe information and ways to help you organize your closet and shop for clothes that fit your body type. However, while reading this book, one must keep in mind that the tips are from the 80's. If you want a more modern book, this isn't for you. If you know how to take this information and turn it into more modern advice, then this is a great deal. If you are going to purchase this book new, rather than used, I would say you can find better more up-to-date books for the prices. However, if you purchase it used, it is a very nifty books that you can get some basic color analysis information from and save you a bit of money.

Mon amie utilisait déjà ce livre dans les années 80 pour créer ses jardins en fonction des saisons car à chaque saison correspond un évential de couleurs. Mon époux vient de me demander de lui en commander un autre exemplaire car il l'utilise dans son métier de peintre d'intérieur et il avait donné le sien à un collègue.

Uma raridade conseguir este livro NOVO e por esse valor (R$100). Amei! Um sonho para quem atua com coloração pessoal e deseja ir as origens do método. Adquiri também o Color Me Beautiful`s da Mary Spillane e Christine Sherlock, que expandem o método, é um excelente complemento para este livro. Minha dica: compre logo, pois logo se tornará quase impossível conseguir uma cópia devido ao crescimento da coloração pessoal!
