BerneMen's Heartland Washed Duck Hooded Work Jacket

So far, I love this jacket. It seems to be very well made and is very comfortable and warm. I bought it to replace the Carhartt I got that was too big and too stiff for my liking. This jacket is a softer type canvas and has very soft yet snug fitting wrist and waist cuffs that seal out the cold air nicely. Still has a little stiffness from being new, but I know it will soften up some more as it breaks in. It has a nice strong zipper, and some reviews mentioned the zipper sliding hard, but mine isn't bad at all and I'm sure will also smooth out after some use.I am exactly 6ft., 180 lbs. and I got the medium tall because some of the reviews said the regular medium was too short, but I'm almost thinking I should've gotten the regular. I like my jackets to fall right at my waist line, and the tall hangs a bit lower, falling just an inch below the top of my back pants pockets, which is not terrible but makes it not as easy to reach into them for my phone or wallet. The sleeves are also slightly longer than I need them, but again, not terrible. It fits me comfortably around the chest and there is plenty of room and movement in the shoulders, which I love.

Runs more true to size vs carhartt. I find that carhartt runs big and I have to wear a size smaller but in Berne I wear my usual size of 2X. Great product, very warm and durable like all of the other Berne products I have.

I am a barrel chested guy with longer arms. 6'2", 56 inch chest, 40 inch waist, 37 inch arms. 260 lbs. It's always a problem finding a jacket at a good price that fits my proportions comfortably without being tent like. This jacket is an exception. It feels great just putting it on. Unrestricted movement without riding up at the waist or wrists as I move around is something I never get to experience. But this jacket is perfect in those regards. The elastic hems seem very tough and durable, as does the fabric. Unlike some reviews, I don't find the hood to be abnormally large. It fits well and is warm. Plus it functions as a neck warmer if tied loosely behind my neck when I'm not wearing it. I also think the exterior pockets, while not insulated, are placed well. Love the inner pockets too. It won't replace my favorite leather jacket for wearing to work or for a night out, but it's my new favorite for most everything else.

Honestly, one of my two best purchases in the past year. This and the CeraVe moisturizing cream. I bought this jacket 6 months ago in the late autumn/early winter. It easily handled the Chicago winter. I love how it fits (a little oversized so I can wear a hoodie underneath), it's warm af, it's durable as hell, the zipper is quality, and it just looks great overall. Yes, I wore a hoodie underneath it, but only bc I like that look. LOL. Seriously, don't spend double the money on some *other* brand for its name. This jacket is hands down my favorite and will probably be in my wardrobe for decades bc it's tough as nails.

I tried similar jackets by Carhart and Dickie; but, only this jacket fit me snug around the waist which caters to my taste for a size 40 but a 32-inch waist. The Dickie and the Berne look like they were made in the same factory; but, the Dickie was not "shirred" around the waist as was the Berne.I'm pleased with it - soft, comfy, warm, well made and looks good! I would have given it 5 stars except that it doesn't have a pencil pocket sewin onto the outside of the sleeve (I wasn't expecting one - it is just that I realized, after I had the jacket, that I would have liked such a pocket).

Don’t spend more and get a coat not this nice. It soft and supple and really well made. Get one and you won’t regret it.

Wear it for work during the winter. Keeps me warm. Good fit, durable. Washes up really well and it's not too heavy, medium weight.

I am 6ft, 180lbs with a swimmers build, so wide shoulders, and long waist. The jacket fits great, and goes below my waist which I was a bit afraid it would not. I ordered olive duck, and it is darker than is shown on Amazon or the Berne's website. The new zipper does stick at the bottom, so I hit the teeth with some wax; I use drawer ease, but just about any wax will do, and make that new zipper run smooth. The jacket is very warm, and is good to freezing temps, but probably not beyond that.

Usually wear a large in mens jackets since I have wide hips and ordered a medium after trying on the similarly styled Carhartt jacket. This one was tighter through the waist and stomach (top half is as loose as you would expect) so it's a little awkward for me to zip it up. Still love it and wear it unzipped all the time, and this probably won't be an issue for you if you've got a more normally shaped body or are just relatively skinny lol

My husband loves this coat! It is fleece lined so is very warm and can be used as a winter jacket easily. He has gotten many, many compliments when he wears it. Good purchase, great price!

fit my husband like someone used a tape measure... seems like a high quality, zipper is smoother than expected, pockets are huge, lining is soft and warm.

I bought this mainly for the price (under $60 with free shipping) to replace a similar Tuff Duck work coat that had served me well for 10+ years. Its primary use will be outside chores during colder weather. I bought the tall model as I'm 6'5", and though the body fits perfect, I have to say the sleeves are somewhat longer than I had hoped for. Because this jacket has cuffs (which prevent the sleeves from riding down your arms), it's not a deal-breaker, however. It appears well made & warm, but of course only time will tell. Confidence is high, however.
