Disappointing
Dull-Dull-Dull!!!! I bought this after reading a top cooking magazine's review of similar channel zesters. They said this one was by far the best. BS! OK, it has a nice handle and is comfortable, but it is dull because it is just a cheap stamped item, just like everything else that has a business end that looks just like it. Because it is dull, it takes more effort to cut with it. This force distorts the skin of the lemon or orange or whatever citrus you might have, and the resulting strip is pulled thinner and most of the luscious citrus oil is squeezed out of it. I don't cut strips just to look good, they have to be able to exude citrus oil for scent and flavor in the cocktails I mix. I'll probably try to sharpen this thing with a file and a stone -- no one should have to do that. If you want one of these things to fiddle with, buy the cheapest one -- not this one -- they are all made the same. If you want something sharp, get a Wusthof or a "Triangle" brand from Germany. I bought the Triangle brand U-groove one in the same order as this one. It is almost razor sharp, and does a much better job. It is an "in-line" cutter though (ambidextrous, too.) I'll probably buy the V-groove Triangle one, too, as I don't seem to be able to get the Wusthof (expensive, but worth it) from a US Amazon supplier. See my review of the Triangle U-groove cutter. Cheers! Tony

The Lemon or the Zester?
This is the first zester I've owned, but I can tell that it is a much sharper, better quality zester than the one I was looking at in the store, which was just a few dollars cheaper. I have noticed that the quality of the lemon I am using greatly influences the type of zest I get. If I use a shriveled, dried up lemon I don't get very good zest and even that is hard to get. If I use a plump, juicy lemon I get wonderful long strings of zest that are absolutely delightful.

A wonderful kitchen gadget
After purchasing a very inexpensive version of something similar (a different brand) and becoming frustrated almost immediately, I purchased this brand. It has worked consistently from the first time I used it. It makes zesting a lemon for lemonade relatively easy. This may be a bit more expensive, but in this case, you really do pay for what you get.

What's with the negative reviews?
This item worked perfectly. If you gave it a negative review, you simply don't know how to hold a tool steady and use it properly.

Takes practice but works great!
Takes a little practice to learn to use but a great little tool! Makes beautiful strips!

Highly recommend!
This is how zesters are SUPPOSED to work! I have rheumatoid arthritis, so most kitchen gadgets are hard on me. This thing makes beautiful strips of citrus or fine tiny shavings with no effort. It's amazing. I've had lots of zesters and graters, but never one that worked like this. Highly recommend

Works great for me!
I’m not able to use a microplane zester because of arthritis in my hands. This zester is easy for me to use.

Does not work
I purchased this channel knife to make citrus strips to garnish cocktails the tool does not work to do this job at all. I mistakenly assumed the tool was made in Germany and was expecting German quality, I am extremely disappointed and am therefore returning it.

very small peel
We wanted this for making Lemoncello. The peels are just to small for this. Not a fault of the peeler. This will suite making decorations for drinks.

worth having
if you have a zester, you will not get the bitter white pith of the orange. Worth it. Small enough not to be annoying in the utensil drawer. A specialized tool that you will find uses for. Orange-scented cream with which to make creme brûlée anyone?

Pro touch? More like no touch!
It’s too much of a struggle to get a good zest. It almost always shreds the peel to pieces as you go, it would be easier to use a y peeler and a knife and cutting board to make thin zest than this piece of junk. Waste of money.
