practical insights
This is an easy read of insights from proverbs gathered together in themes. There are excellent questions at the end of each section ~ for personal growth or group settings. Highly recommend this layman’s commentary.

Exactly What I Was Looking For
I truly appreciate Dr. Wiersbe's work here. I was looking for a book on proverbs that walks through the principles without just rewording whats already there. I have read other commentaries on proverbs but this is by far my favorite. Dr. Wiersbe breaks down principles that the authors in proverbs presented with verses from scripture elsewhere in the Bible and also adds some quotes from other notable figures in history which I think is cool. Personally, reading proverbs everyday sometimes gets numb to my mind so this is Not a good substitute of the Word but is a great commentary that helps me go deeper in my understanding of proverbs.

Excellent Commentary
This is another great commentary that makes an excellent source for a Bible study of Proverbs. The first four chapters are covered individually and the remaining twenty-seven chapters are covered in a subject formate. This makes it an excellent source for either an individual or group study of Proverbs. I highly recommend this book for a study of Proverbs.

Useful Summary of Proverbs
I bought the book to use as a resource for a writing assignment about Proverbs and found it useful. The writing is easy to understand, and the background information is very helpful without being overly scholarly. The writer is skillful at providing summary paragraphs that capture the basic contents in an organized way. The last part of the book deals with general topics found in Proverbs, which makes it a little difficult to find the corresponding commentary on a specific proverb. But overall, this is an excellent introduction to the book, which should prove useful and instructive to most readers.

The author has a very good rpeutation for his Biblical Study guides
I am in the process of reading and studying this book now, but haven't really spent enough time with it yet to make a meaningful evaluation of it. The author has a very good rpeutation for his Biblical Study guides, however so I'm sure it is a good book.

Probing and Insightful
This book was used in a Bible study. I liked it because it was probing and insightful. Questions at the end of each chapter weren't just fill in the blank; you had to apply what you had read and think them through.

Skillful indeed by Wiersbe
This is another excellent Wiersbe commentary, but this time a little different. I wondered how he would deal with the nature of Proverbs with its (in the main) bite-sized wisdom. He addresses the problem by dividing his approach into two fundamentally different parts. For the first seven chapters his approach is quite conventional taking whole chapters at a time reflecting on wisdom and folly. From there he chooses themes covered in the remaining chapters, some very encouraging, others very challenging. He writes this way to aid study, but emphasises that the best way to read Proverbs is to read the book sequentially, as written. A wise an skillful approach.

Be skilful
Great book I found it to be instructive but never preaches to you.

Representative of the author's oppinion, not of the text
This book does not do a good job of respecting the text in its own right. It is more presumptuous than informative. I'm sure it would be a nice devotional read, but is not good as a commentary.
