Its such a great book, i read it when i was a kid and now that i am a mom i was able to read it to my daughter. She is 6 and understood the book and also loved the tale.

As a Lenape tale, there are different versions of this story in children's books. I didn't realize this until I bought the "wrong one" first. This version has a beautiful story with depth and better illustrations than the other one I purchased. It's a favorite book.

Book was a bit rough looking. Taped a few spots. Still had stamps from the school it was from. Wish I would of spent the 3 more cents for a new book. But it’s ok the reason was to enjoy the reading more then the psychical book.

My niece adored this story and even called to tell me so.

This is a Lenni Lenape creation story with which I have lived for many years. Working with children, we made it into a puppet play several times. The story has an amazing moral -- that when we give all of ourselves, we may suffer. Even so, there are gifts inherent in our suffering. At first these gifts may be hidden, but if we take the teaching inherent in it, we will thrive.This time I bought the book for a wonderful friend who has lost her voice due to a rare spasmodic condition. She loves the story, and told me about two of the many gifts of losing her voice -- that she knows all the bird songs, and that she finds peace in the silence.

Part of a read-aloud attempt to introduce my students to some new culture and their stories. But also how they can relate the legends to contemporary thinking and stories.

We like this the paperback version so much we purchased the hard cover version too

A delightful story of the rainbow crow, how he brings fire to the woodland animals. A great story to read aloud and has become one of my little ones favourite stories. A beautiful Native American tale.

This book was given as a gift to my daughters and I loved it so much I got it for my niece too. It's a beautiful story and my oldest spotting crows and talking about how they got their black feathers and croaky voices!Highly recommend.

Wonderful story that had the children in my class in awe, they were talking about it for days.

Good book

I had a paperback copy of this book for my daughter years ago and it is a staple in our house for teaching duty and sacrifice of heroes. When I realized that I could get a hardcover version to enjoy for years to come, I jumped on the opportunity. The quality of the binding is wonderful, as it is a quality library binding. Beautiful pictures and and even more beautiful story!
