Great Series of Books For Children
Purchased these for my grandson and he loves them. I started him off with the 1st book and the next 4 so that he'd have some to read over the Christmas holidays last year. I got him the next 5 in the series for his birthday in March. The next 3 were purchased for him to read over the summer. I will be buying the next 5 in the series as part of his Christmas presents. I love that he reads (he's in 2nd grade) and his mom said these are first books he stays glued to when he starts one. He loves them and I'll keep buying them for him until we hit the end - which is a very long way away! https://www.amazon.com/dp/0807552933/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_2

Lovely appealing book series for kids of all ages.
We have enjoyed all the Boxcar books. Though the stories are simple compared to other modern books - somehow they have an immense appeal to children of all ages. I think the sibling spirit amongst the kids and the fact that they go an adventures by themselves sometimes add to the enchantment. The simplicity and olden-day setting also seem to fascinate my kids. They are amused by how the kids eat milk, stew and bread all the time! (no modern convenience foods) and how they use old-fashioned telegrams and post offices! This particular book involves a secret treasure and camping up on a mountain. My kids always enjoy trying to solve the mystery before the end (and often they succeed as the mysteries can be quite obvious) - but that makes it more fun for them as they are always right - "I told you so!"The new covers are lovely and we still savour the old drawings inside too.

Homework Helper
Needed the book for a school project. Better than trying to check it out multiple times. Plus can track progress of the book getting read.

Good book but weak recording
My four children (ages 4-9) LOVE the Boxcar Children. We have all of the original audio recordings back from around 2007 (narrated by Aimee Lilly) and we have probably listened to them over 200 times total. My kids never get tired of them. However, this recording is by a different narrator. He uses more pronounced voices than Ms. Lilly and my kids won't even listen to the recording because they don't like the voices. It just sounds like a recording for very young children, sort of like a cartoon. I would buy every Boxcar Collection if they were all narrated by Ms. Lilly, but most of the collections have a combination of narrators, so I'm not going to buy anymore with this narrator since I know the kids won't listen to it. I HIGHLY recommend the older recordings, which include Ghost Ship Mystery, Summer Camp Mystery, Mystery at Ruby Hollow, and a few others.
