My Tello is fantastic, purchased the fly more combo so realistically have around 50 mins flight time. I've also ran it through a WiFi signal extender to boost its range. Take it up to 30m with no issues. If you are looking at getting into drones then buy with confidence, I wish this was on the market when I first started. Instead of paying 1,600 for my DJI phantom 3. You get to learn how to handle, fly and simply respect the usage of a drone....... Review: Python programmable drone for beginners - The Tello programmable drone is an interesting system for beginners that like to learn how to program a drone via Python. The system works out of the box. The drone test programme is really simple and brief and runs on a PC/Laptop/RPi with WiFi. There is no need to understand the code to run the drone but a bit of knowledge how to run Python from a command line would be useful. Note that the test code is designed for Python 2 and not for Python 3. The movement commands for the drone come from a text file. The commands are self-explanatory. Using the drone requires a well-lit environment! If the environment is not really bright enough, the drone may ignore commands telling you it needs calibration. I also suggest using the drone in a reasonably large space. Just the lifting off from the ground takes ca. 50cm and self-created turbulences from the rotors make the Tello wobble slightly in confined spaces. Give the Tello some space and light and the drone should perform very well! After ca. 15 minutes of constant use the drone requires recharging. You can do this through its convenient USB connector on its chassis. The Tello comes with an ok on-board camera. For WiFi control, the Tello turns into an access point. The first flight was excellent, very stable , good quality stills, passable video very responsive . Came to use it next day would not work rapid flashing yellow led on drone indicated that the wifi signal was lost then a warning on the phone screen "system over heating" then it turned itself off.
