Perfect for a beginner in Graphic design
I absolutely love this book, it tells you everything you need to know about getting started in the Graphic design industry and it even gives you practise exercises and briefs which are like work experience in itself. The book offers an insight into the building blocks needed to fully understand design and how to apply these skills to everyday design projects.I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to start their career in Graphic design!

Great crash course into Graphic Design
Very thorough exploration of the subject. Will be coming back to this book a lot.

Genrally quite useful, but...
Generally, this is quite a useful book, but it's a bit cheeky calling it graphic design for everyone, and then spending the first few chapters having readers complete business exercises, sketch out mindmaps and the like, and do assorted other stuff to 'create their own brand' -- not everyone interested in graphic design necessarily wants to start a business or create a personal brand logotype or graphical identity... Otherwise, it does do a good job of introducing some basic and more advanced topics to Jo Normal...

Beautifully presented and well put together
The author clearly knows their subject and takes the reader through a number of design scenarios to illustrate techniques: use of layout, colour, contrast, composition, etc. Some have said about the focus on the business branding but that’s only a small section of the book and actually is a compelling reason for some people to buy the book in the first place. Many people will see the relevance of using example projects such as designing a poster, event flyer or a website. All in all, nicely put together and an excellent resource for beginners to teach the basic concepts. Recommended.

A good buy
I bought this for my daughter as she has just begun GCSE Graphics. She found it really clear and easy to understand and is going to do some of the branding exercises in her own time. She really loved the design of the book, which made her trust that the author really knows what she is talking about.I think that the book would be a really good investment for anyone starting up their own business who isn't experienced in branding. It encourages you to think about the importance of design in an accessible way.

Don't study this book like it was your school homework.
Browse it. Dip into it at random. Keep it handy. Enjoy it. Become familiar with it. Make a friend of it. Don't necessarily copy the designs and ideas but let your own thoughts come through. If at first you don't succeed.... well, you know. It is a very good book that will help you think like a designer. Keep it near your desk at all times and don't lend it out.
