This book was recommended to me by a university lecturer and was massively helpful throughout the year when writing essays. It is a quick/easy read and has tips that are very helpful to all subjects. I would recommend this to anyone who struggles to compose well structured essays, this book really helped to improve my grade!

I'm a first-year mature university student, and while my education so far has been to high level, it has also been mostly private, meaning that I've missed out on much of the opportunity to learn 'academic reading & writing'. This book has completely demystified the the process and explains exactly the procedures necessary for both comprehending academic writing (how to read!) and how to organise your thoughts and get them on paper in a manner that other academics can easily read and understand (how to write!). This book isn't going to be the 'be-all-and-end-all' of academic reading and writing, but the foundational concepts and methodologies contained therein are going to be core to your academic studies right through from first-year undergrad to post grad thesis work.

If you have just entered into year 2 of your degree and have realised that all marks going forward will amount to your final grade...Don't panic. Get this book, read it and get on with your work. I found when the nerves kicked in this book just helped me do what I already knew and gave me some useful hints along the way. Also, it helps if you don't leave you essays until the night before...lol...Good luck!!
