Living in changing times
Very absorbing account of the times. We understand a bit more about the life of women in the Zenana. The Zenana too transformed from independent , decision making women to the dependant inhabitants of the purdah. The author is a compelling narrator and picks on the right details to tell compelling stories. Easy to read, enjoyed every moment, of being transported to another time.

Beautifully written
The book was in a very good condition also the package arrived on time and as promised.About the book, it is beautifully written. You get very deep knowledge about the subhect that is- the Mughal reign while also getting indulged in it. Also it is written in a manner that won't bore you while you are. The author has created a kind of a storyline out of the facts. She has also included quotes and narratives from their autobiographies, biographies etc which makes reading them very interesting and gives you many insise details of their livesOverall this was a great book and I really recommend it to any history lover out there.

A good read!
Excellent portrayal of the women, usually hidden behind the men of the glorious Mughal empire. The narrative from the perspective of women of Zenana, across regions and cultures is assimilated into the course of history. However, there's a hint of romanticism about the Empire.

Must read for history lovers
The book beautifully and lovingly tells the tale of the remarkable lives of the Mughal women, their influence and grandeur. It's a must-read parallel history of the Mughal Empire and its women.

Overall okay
The book was overall a good reading but boring in patches as the author keeps repeating herself. I wish she had given her own historic asides and truths along with information found in the mogul texts. This is because it glosses over and almost dismisses the fact that the mogul invaders did rob the rajput kingdoms and this is because of their mastery in the use of guns. Also many historic facts like Jahangir actually had Noor Jahan's husband killed to get her and so on were not mentioned. The author was trying to dispel the view of western scholars but most of the east intutively knows what goes on in zananas.

Terrific work
Never before has testimony to life behind the glorious Mughal period's walls been expressed with such beauty.Gulbadan, Nurjahan, and Jahanara's characters reverberate with the power, pain, and ups and downs of the reign of the Shah. This is my first encounter with the author's work. I'm eagerly anticipating reading even more.

AMAZING
I was amazed by the way this book was packaged. It was done with such care that it's obvious that the person who packed the book loves and respects books. The packaging and the book were impeccable, absolutely clean and the packaging material so soft and delicate, while still protecting the book well for shipment. I was so impressed that I will certainly purchase more books from that company.

Good History. About Women Yet
I love history and this book presented a whole new past (Mughal India) for me to learn about. It was wonderful that it was more about the women of the period than the men. Although I want to learn more about the men too.
