We’ve had both the austinair brand filter and this one.As a household with 5 dogs and 3 cats a purifier is a must.Our name brand needed replacing after 3 years, not the 5 which I assume is due to all the pets and hard wood flooring throughout the house.This brand has provided the identical filtering as the name brand and for the same amount of time.This purchase was just made but I’m assuming it’ll hold up like our prior purchase here and we’ll be good another 3 years.Excellent product and price.

i was surprised at the heavy duty quality of this air filter. very similar to oem, but at a better price. i would recommend this air filter.

The foam was not thick enough to seal on the top of the filter due to interference with the fan nuts on my 400. I tore the cardboard and gasket from my old filter and used it at the top. Then flipped the filter over to use the thinner gasket on the new at the top. Worked perfect and great seal.

While about 30% less in price than healthmate, Healthmate is 27% heavier, I assume that’s more charcoal. No real way for homeowner to know actual lifespan of filter. Fit is good. Funny Amazon quoted a week for free ship, $300 for 2 day (which is mnfg charge) arrived in 2 days anyways. I think it’s safe to assume weight difference is less charcoal which, what lessens effectiveness or life?

Fit perfectly into my Austin Air Health Mate unit. I placed the filter in 1st. Then I linned up BOTH pre-filters, bent them into a circle and nudged them into the tight space around the filter. I began nudging one end a few inches, worked my way around, doubled up the ends and nudged them in. I repeated this as I'd push the filter to the opposite side by a few hairs but just enough to keep nudging a few inches at a time. I was able to get my fingers into the corner spaces to do the most nudging downward till both filters were fully inside the unit and surrounding the new filter. I placed the black filter on top because my unit is black and the tiny air holes tend to show the filter a bit so may as well match. For white or off-white units, place the white prefilter towards the outside of the unit if also using the black prefilter.So, I've been running my unit 24-7 for one week with this new label filter. I'm very satisfied as evidence by not needing to dust up fine dust off my black carved out headboard. I live near the freeway so fine particles and dust is an issue even with screens on my windows. Plus I have two awesome dogs who sleep in my bedroom. I suffer from alergies so good air quality is critical, as it should be for everyone. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this filter and super happy to save a lot of money. Brand name filters are overpriced just because a manufacturer has their own models. I'm so glad there's finally some competition and more people can afford better air quality, for their health and well being.

This is a quality filter, resulting in a much better smell in the basement.

I havn't used this air cleaner for years cause the filters were too expensive. When we found this company we jumped on it cause the price is so so much better. But you don't know till you recieve it if it is really quality. Well this is better than the original filter and so effective. We love having it on. I was just Diagnosed with a lung disease and mold and allergins in a big problem for me. We put a sheet over our door and run this in a large bedroom, and the air is so clean, I have no symptoms at all when sleeping or relaxing. Thanks so much. I ordered this filter for my Austin Air PET machine. I hadn't replaced the filter in a while as the price of the filters was absolutely unreasonable. When I first bought the machine the filters were about $200 now they go for $500!!This filter was a great price and works perfectly! Quality of air has improved amd I definitely noticed a difference. Definitely recommended!!

Comes with an additional filter wrap that was not included with original. So far it is working well and has eliminated odors that were starting to form. Happy with product.

Wasnt sure about purchasing but with other great reviews decided to take the plunge.I'm very happy I did. My wife has noticed better air quality and her nose is more sensitive than mine.It's well worth the cost - comes with the carbon filter lining as well.Also to my surprise after installation, the humming that I could not fix using the previous manufacturer's filter was resolved. I had given up on fixing the low-level hum, attributing it to the metal frame of the air filtration unit, but it seems now it was the previous manufacturer's filter.

This filter didn't fit exactly the same as the original HM400 filter but it works perfectly and actually makes less noise. Also much more economical than the Healthmate HM400 filters. Great product!
