A: You will need at least 15" of clearance to stack them one inside the other

**Q: How long do the handles last?**
A: As long as you're careful with them, for a very long time. I was very happy with these clothes baskets. I never took off the handles and they've never came off on me either, even when carrying very loads. I think as long as you don't snap the handles off in the first place they will stay on. I ordered 3 sets of these baskets (9 baskets total) and all of them are very nice and all the handles are firmly in place.
