Surprising more comfortable than expected
I wanted something temporary as a bed since I was only moving to a new city for only a year on my clinical practice rotation. If you are someone that needs a thicker material to sleep on, this may not be for you. But I am thoroughly surprised by the level of comfort for how thin it is (~2.5-3 inches thick). Buy a basic, fitted amazon bedsheet for like $10-14 and comforter and you're good to go. For reference I'm 5'7" and 170 Ibs. If you're 5'9' or taller, I may not recommend it since your feet might stretch off the mat depending on the position you sleep.

I started sleeping on the floor, these are good and affordable.
I actually use a queen size, which I fold in half, and a full sized mattress. At 6'5" and 280, plus being on the cusp of old age, I need just a bit more padding than a young one, or thin one, might. Still, these work great, I use this brand for both sizes. I have been using them for... several... five?... years now? Air them out, from time to time, winter or any season... just don't let them get wet or it's a monster to get them dried.I keep several sets, if I haven't broken out the new sets, yet. I really like these. The only problem I have had, is that I didn't realize they had this in different covering materials... colors and prints. I would have chosen something else. Still, no big problem. I use flat sheets on top, so don't usually notice. But it is a butt ugly color when I'm changing sheets. My bad. I didn't look around. I think the other sets are different, though maybe I learned even after ordering those. Still, just a minor complaint, and wholly my fault. And, who knows, maybe prison slate will come into fashion... in a thousand years. :p

Comfortable at first, but flattens out very quickly
I'm a bit heavier but still average-sized (5'10" at around 160 lbs) but after sleeping on this with a carpet, rug, and exercise mat underneath, it flattens out from three inches to about a half inch-inch thick after a night of sleep, and it doesn't matter how well I fluff it out the previous day, or the next. It's just not very firm at all. I got a more authentic Japanese-made shikibuton at around the same thickness that, by the nature of more dense cotton filling and thicker construction, is much more sturdy and not much more expensive that holds up much better. For the time being I have it propped up against the wall as a sort of sofa-replacement, but even after an hour or two one feels the floor underneath very quickly. If this is being used for sleeping accommodations I recommend you research more authentic Japanese shikibutons. This can work fine as a layer if you have more padding, but even then I find it just sinks in too much.

Okay
Just okay. It holds up well with slight compression. Perhaps too expensive for the thickness and no cover.

Just like the last one
Previously bought one of these and was happy with it, so I thought I would get another. It's exactly like the last one I bought. Comfortable, easy to fold, not heavy at all so it's easy to move, and I don't wake up with back pain! It's very affordable too. If you lay this on the floor like a real futon, then you really need to fold it every time you get up for the day, otherwise it will get unpleasantly packed in a few days and stop being comfortable. If it gets like that, there's an easy fix though; just fold it! I highly recommend this futon for people with back pain, or people who weigh <130lbs (innerspring and memory foam mattresses just don't provide enough support for low-weight people, as weird as that is to say). I'm not sure how supportive a heavier person would find this though.

My regular bed
This makes floor-sleeping a joy. It’s comfortable, folds readily, and stores away easily in my small apartment closet

Sleepy night time. Baby, bye-bye.
It's thick and comfortable. The cover isn't sheer and pretty substantial in weight. I appreciate all those things because I sleep well as an extra layer to my futon couch. If you are sensitive to smells then the one downside is the chemical scent. I did a quick search to find a natural way to neutralize the odor, yep baking soda. I actually anticipated this issue because it's become common to experience what I described as "chemically treated" fabrics though I cannot say that's a fact.
