Psychological Report Writing Assistant

The book is concise, up-to-date, and clearly written with excellent guidelines for psychological report writing. Conceptually, the accompanying software is super, but its execution was very disappointing. The main shortcoming is the inability to add content into the program for future, repeated use. Yes, the program might provide 3 or 4 "common phrases" that you can insert into the report, and yes you can modify those 3 or 4 phrases, save them in the program, and re-use them later. However, you cannot add additional content beyond the defined limits of the 3 or 4 fields that are provided. Similarly, there are built-in tests (MMPI-2, WAIS, WISC) that you can put raw & T-scores into that the program can use in your report and/or make into slick charts. However, there is no way to add other tests (e.g., MMPI-A, etc.) or tables into this part of the program or even fix the spelling errors that are generated in the charts. There are a number of other annoying "bugs" such as clicking a drop-down to enter a pronoun will sometimes result in choosing a country, the screen to rate a patient/client on 7 domains (so that the program can generate possible recommendations) does not allow you to access the final few domains, etc. Overall the software, with significant tweaking by the creators, has tremendous potential.

I bought this because I wanted to use the software, but it was difficult to use. First, it took a long time to install, then using it was challenging. It seems that the software does not work as well as it is suppose to. If you want to just use the book, then it is quite informative. However, I already have other books that have more comprehensive information regarding report writing, so this book is not as thorough. Regardless, it still has valuable information. I was really disappointed with the software.

I purchased the Kindle version and there is no software, so I have a worthless book. I received no response to my inquiry as to have to resolve this. I can't speak for the paper version but do not purchase the Kindle, you will be out $40

Absolutely Horrible purchase. The software that is supposed to come with this e-book has been removed from their files. The help pages have been moved. I spent a whole day chatting back and forth with "Wiley" the publisher....but there was no help. They blamed the browser, the computer and everything else. The customer service was terrible. Do not buy this book. Its a waste of your money and time.

While the book is very comprehensive, the software is problematic. First, the software does not work with Windows 8 and compromised my operating system severely. Second, after contacting their tech support and being assured the software would work on Windows 7 platforms, I attempted to install it on an older computer running that OS. Same issues; spent several hours working with tech support and no fix. Wiley needs to overhaul the software on a major level or simply not offer this product to busy professionals like myself who have neither the time nor the willingness to spend countless hours on a faulty software configuration.

The book is worth it. However, the software is definitely NOT worth the money. It is not very user friendly.

Looks new and came as expected

UK Psychologists beware: This is not suitable for use in UK! The idea is that you customise your own reports by adding various text fields and tick and/or radio boxes that can then be populated with the relevant responses, but the choices you can add are strictly limited to the ones pre-chosen by the software. You are not able to customise the terms or language used. This meant that I already got stuck at the very first level of adding the patient's personal details. For example, when adding ethnic background the choices are limited to 'African American, Caucasian, Native American, etc' It would have been very easy to give this software the ability to allow users to customise these fields, but unfortunately the developers did not think that this was necessary. As a result this is useless to anybody practising outside of the USA.
