JACKEL - Original Radon Sump Dome (Model: SMR16101-CV)

Worked out great for my radon fan install. Need a hammer drill to make it easy to put the holes in the concrete to hold this in place. Fantastic fit with the unit being a couple inches beyond the hole width. Lid was a little tricky to get the gasket to stay in place but used a little aqua-seal to tack it in place and it went well. Only use a nut driver on the lid bolts and avoid overtightening them or the nuts will strip out. Extra nuts if needed however. Comes with a variety of hole assortments. Great product worth the investment.

The sump pump cover arrived just as shown. Nice molding and thick walls. Everything fit together well. Following another reviewer, thank you, I used a reasonable amount of silicone seal on all the pre-installed plastic nuts and let it set up. Also put a small amount of silicone grease, or you could use Vaseline, on the stainless bolts which allowed then to screw in with very little force and none of the nuts fell off. My cement floor wasn't perfectly level but again, a good layer of silicone seal, almost two tubes, allowed for a good seal. 1/4 inch by 1 1/4 Tap-Cons with stainless fender washers, you need 12, were used to anchor it to the floor. My sump pump discharge pipe is sch 40 1 1/2 inch. The included seal worked great. The threaded fitting for the radon pipe connection is for 3-inch sch 40 threaded pipe adapter. If you have 4-inch pipe, you could use an adapter which for an inch or so, wouldn't slow down the flow very much. If they provided a 4-inch adapter, that would make this cover perfect. I put the provided lid bolts and washers through the lid while upside down resting on a flat surface to hold them in and applied the lid rubber seal over the bolts. After turning the lid over to mount, the seal stayed in place and the lid was easily bolted down. The supplied rubber grommet allows the sump pump wire to seal well and I added another small hole for the wire to my sump warning switch. There are several other sections in the grommet if you run another wire for another pump or something else. Pulling out this grommet from the lid will allow easy removal of the wires when you need to remove the lid for pump replacement. The added viewing window is a plus so you can see what is going on under the lid. This is a good sump pump cover which allows for the needed disassembly when sump pump service is needed. I've seen some covers that just have a plate with tons of silicone which would make disassembly a nightmare. I should have installed this cover years ago.

Well made sump cover with viewing port to check on sump levels. This is a great sump cover for those of us with water and radon problems. The domed cover does great sealing for the radon exhaust fan while providing a clear window to check water levels in the sump. It is the 28" diameter one so make sure that it fits your sump before purchasing.

This us a well thought out and engineered product with a major design flaw. As others have mentioned the bolts that hold the cap to the dome thread into plastic anchors that are just inserted into the dome. They are very easy to push out when bolting down the cap. After fishing two of them out of the tank I decided that all of these need to be glued into the dome using strong epoxy. This would have been easier to do if I’d realized before I mounted the dome. I took advantage of other good advice posted in these reviews. Like use blue screws to mount the dome to the concrete floor instead of the included concrete anchors. And assemble the cap, gasket and bolts(with plumbers’ grease on the threads) so you can place it on the dome all aligned at once. And the big cap gasket should be mounted with the ribbed side facing the dome. This product could certainty use better assembly instructions. Still, it’s a very unique and solid product for the intended purpose.

Impressed by some of the reviews that touted the excellent customer care, I paid the extra money for this authentic "Original" brand cover instead of buying a nearly identical one at a big box home supply store. When I noticed one of the screw-on plugs had a small crack in it (small enough I only noticed it many days later after a third inspection) the Original Radon Sump/Dome company quickly sent a replacement for no charge, no questions asked.Other reviews mentioned issues with nuts dropping into the basin when screwing on the lid once the base was installed but I see that properly starting out the bolts should reduce the likelihood of that occurring. I have yet to install the cover because I have a LOT of prep work to do in order to make clearance in the VERY small closet in which my sump is located.
