Ultrasound for Canine Pregnancy Scanning

Interesting
As a licensed dog breeder, I purchased my own ultrasound scanner a few years ago, purely for my own pregnancy confirmations, but never really knew what all the knobs and buttons were for, I was just happy that I could see pictures of little fetal sacs of joy in my mums-to-be once they reached 30 days, to confirm pregnancy, and nothing else about the machine really mattered or made any sense to me. I always wanted to go on a course to learn how to use it properly, as there have been many a time where I have been flummoxed by what I was looking at on the screen, but the nearest course was at least one overnight stay and a very long train journey each way, which I don;t have the time for, and the retailer of my scanner was quite blunt in offering advice and information, (ie. in response to a very simple question when I initially purchased the scanner, I was told "come on a course and you will find out", hmmm, so I spend best part of £2000 with you and you refuse to provide me any advice to a very basic question unless I spend a further £500 on one of your courses????, nice!), so i just sat back and decided that just being able to see the fetal sacs was enough for me. I never did find myself a good book that helped. Then I came across this beauty, by complete accident. I was actually looking for a book about animal parasitology, as I recently purchased my own microscope to undertake my own doggie worm counts, and out of nowhere this book caught my eye. I just had to have it, and it has not disappointed. I treat myself to it as an extra christmas present, and on Boxing day eve, I sat and read it from cover to cover. I learnt so much from this book, it is so easy to follow and understand and is not written in degree/student speak. Thoroughly enjoyed the read, and will definately be putting my new found knowledge of all the knobs and buttons and pictures to the test as I continue to scan my girlies for pregnancies. Definately one to keep close at hand on the bookshelf close to my scanner.

Well worth a Read
Have done the course but this book is brilliant for putting things into laymen’s terms and also refreshing me on things that I had forgotten. If you have a machine this book is definitely worth a purchase.
