Creation: Facts of Life (Revised & Updated)

Evidence for Creation or where the beef really is
Evolution is based on faith, bias and obstinacy. Creation is based on logic demonstrated through evidence and facts. This book is the definitive one (it can't get any better) to finally vote for Creationism as against Evolution (that is, macro-evolution). You won't need any more books because you won't have any more doubts.Evolutionists would still have us believe that the sun moves around the Earth simply because they have to justify their salaries. But they never convince, they threaten and insult, that they do well. Next thing they will have us believe that Princes come from frogs, if you only kiss them for three million years. I am not an ultra-conservative or anti-utopian person. I am open-minded enough and willing to give evolution a chance if I see some evidence, just as I would believe in the goodness of Marxism if I could see it work somewhere (and Castro would just quit). But it ain't the case, Chase. There are a lot of questions that strict evolutionists don't know how to answer, even by 2007 and, however, they are absolutely obstinate about being right. "In evolutionary thinking, chance and struggle produce 'new and improved' forms of life. In biblical thinking, chance and struggle produce disease, decline and death."The author himself was an evolutionist before he decided to check the facts from a biblical perspective. It took him three years to change his mind and fully believe that the Bible is the best guide to understanding God's world. This book is written by a scientist who became a Christian. It is written in an easy to understand language, full of facts, quotes from other leading scientists, and lots of investigation on fields like biology, genetics to paleontology (and don't tell me you're smarter than him, that won't do).Evolutionists don't even explain why horses, dogs or fish have stopped evolving, if they ever evolved -which they haven't, otherwise why have they stopped?-. Evolution does not trespass barriers between species. There are different "varieties" of dogs, but they are still dogs. Animals just become more adapted and fitted to their particular environment. The change is only within kind, not from one kind to others. "Natural selection does not explain the origin of species or traits, but only their preservation. Lewontin ... recognizes that 'natural selection operates essentially to enable the organisms to maintain their state rather than to improve it'. "There is the false idea that mutations in the genes are the motor of transformation, but: "mutations presuppose creation. After all, mutations are only changes in genes that already exist."There's a warning in this book against trying to become a peacemaker between evolutionists and creationists while being a Christian. The author himself had been through that stage. He tried to convince himself that evolution told us how God did it. The reason for the warning: "Darwin described the evolutionary process (as) ... the 'war of nature, famine, and death'. Evolution is a gruesome cycle of struggle-and-death." But "God even tells us that He was 'grieved to His heart by the violence and corruption' that filled the earth after people turned away from Him (Genesis 6:5-6). If God was grieved by violence and corruption, how could He use it as His means of creation? ... Evolution is the opposite of the whole Gospel message.""great variation within kind ("micro-evolution") by itself could never, even in infinite time, lead to macro-evolution." That is, small changes don't just add up continuously. The chapter about fossils is very relevant. The Neanderthals, who were supposed to be our ancestors, are now considered to be -even by evolutionists- no more different from people living today (and I think know those people). Somebody owes an apology to Mr Neanderthal. But these nice Neanderthals were not the only ones so ill-treated by our racists of laboratory: The Tasmanian aborigines were once considered also as a subhuman evolutionary link. Then there's the Piltdown hoax. Why did that happen? " ... people (just) wanted to believe in evolution". Kind of what happend with the infamous Da Vinci Code: people just want to believe it. Then the author discusses the Lucy bones, and the Austrolopitecus (forgive my spelling) and that does more than convince me.A final word: More evolutionary fantasy is not going to help us, folks. In Spain one chimp already ran for president and won (he's known as the Spanish Mr Bean), and things are getting pretty hair-raising here. Those who are not into any monkey business will soon end up as second rate citizens in a cage. And no banana.

Truth
i can't say enough good about this book. It has solid answers. It presents real truth. It exposes the problem of embracing lies as truth.Great Book. The author knows what he's talking about. I highly recommend Dr. Gary Parker to anyone who has serious questions about creation/evolution and actual science.

A CLEAR DISTORTION OF REALITY
As I read this book- CREATION Facts of Life (and yes, I really DID actually READ it) it quickly became evident that it is a glowing example of how our perspective so often determines our reality. Parker begins by describing how he started off life as a rational biology teacher dedicated the fundamentals of Darwinian evolution, which he taught with great fervor. At some point a friend converts him to Christianity and he suddenly finds that his beliefs in evolution are in stark conflict with Biblical contentions that the universe, the earth and all life was created by God a few thousand years ago in a mere seven days instead of evolving over billions of years through natural selection. To resolve this difficult conflict, Parker has crafted a series of carefully prepared arguments in an attempt to convince himself and his readers that everything we see is "evidence "of God's hand at work. His thinly veiled creationist/Intelligent Design agenda is intended to debunk Darwinism (evolution) and promote his personal religious belief. In order to do this, Parker attempts to paint creationism as a "science', capable of competing with Darwinian evolution on an equal basis. The fact is, creationism is religious-based mythology, NOT science. This is not MY opinion, it is the opinion of the US Courts. (See Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District- Docket no. 4cv2688, October, 2004).As the majority of the book reviews on this site (predictably, from Christians) show, this book will be very convincing to Christians because it supports their pre-existing Biblical view of the universe. It is pure smoke and mirrors and transparent intelligent design propaganda though and as such, it is very dangerous. In order to present his argument, Parker has been forced to abandon the reality of the scientific method of careful and systematic observation, data collection, publication and peer-review that has revealed the bulk of facts about our universe that we know to be true today. For you uninformed individuals; Creationism is based on faith, NOT science. The scientific method guarantees the veracity of advances in science in modern society and it was developed precisely to PREVENT the kind of thing that Parker is attempting to do in his book... the substitution of facts for beliefs.Parker makes SO MANY intentional factual misrepresentations in the book that it is impossible to address them here. Perhaps the biggest lie though, is his contention that a large percentage ("Significant Minority"- See page 191) of "first-rate biologists have never been able to accept the validity of Darwinian claims".This is simply NOT TRUE. THE DEGREE OF SCIENTIFIC SUPPORT FOR EVOLUTION IS OVERWHELMING! The vast majority of the scientific community and academia supports evolutionary theory as the only explanation that can fully account for observations in the fields of biology, paleontology, molecular biology, genetics, anthropology, and others. One 1987 estimate found that "700 scientists ... (out of a total of 480,000 U.S. earth and life scientists) ... give credence to creation-science". An expert in the evolution-creationism controversy, professor and author Brian Alters, states that "99.9 percent of scientists accept evolution". A 1991 Gallup poll of Americans found that only about 5% of scientists (including those with training outside biology) identified themselves as creationists.Additionally, the scientific community considers intelligent design, a neo-creationist offshoot, to be unscientific, pseudoscience, or junk science. The U.S. National Academy of Sciences has stated that intelligent design "and other claims of supernatural intervention in the origin of life" are not science because they cannot be tested by experiment, do not generate any predictions, and propose no new hypotheses of their own. In September 2005, 38 Nobel laureates issued a statement saying "Intelligent design is fundamentally unscientific; it cannot be tested as scientific theory because its central conclusion is based on belief in the intervention of a supernatural agent." In October 2005, a coalition representing more than 70,000 Australian scientists and science teachers issued a statement saying "intelligent design is not science" and calling on "all schools not to teach Intelligent Design (ID) as science, because it fails to qualify on every count as a scientific theory"In summary I would have to say that although CREATION FACTS OF LIFE is extremely thoughtful, imaginative and well constructed, Parker has clearly betrayed his own scientific profession by writing this book. TRUTH IS IMPORTANT! Belief is NOT science and his efforts to present creationism as science fall apart under objective, informed scrutiny. Religious people in America have a constitutional right to practice whatever faith they choose but they do NOT have a right to distort facts with lies in order to grow their numbers through deceit. This is a very important crossing of the line and all concerned individuals need to step up and denounce such attempts to misrepresent science and religion. The thinking and aware members of the public will not be fooled by the skill of this man's presentation of his 'beliefs' but sadly, many non-thinking, faith-driven members of our society will indeed swallow Parker's gobble-goop as truth. In the end however, truth will always remain truth and fiction will always remain fiction, no matter how successful one is at concealing truth behind faith and belief.Michael James Jaquish

Very well presented
One of the best presentations I've seen of the science behind the issues with modern evolutionary theory.

Worth reading
I found this book well worth reading. The author clearly expresses his beliefs and seems to have done a good job of footnoting his references. By itself, this book is unlikely to change the mind of someone opposed to creation, but it may inspire further study of some of the ideas. This book is easier to read than Dean Overman's "A Case Against Accident and Self-Organization" and has some interesting references to geological questions that I previously thought were unquestioned facts. I intend to read two of the referenced sources to learn more about some of these theories.

Real Science
It is a shame this isn't taught in public schools. The faith people put in evolution is based on taking a stated position and then refuting logic and true science that says it can't be true. It is amazing that evolution is called science based without any evidence that it is true, while there is much evidence that creation is true. An excellent book that hopefully will get broad readership.

Gary Parker is a true credible scientist and he is ...
Gary Parker is a true credible scientist and he is a living example that true scienceand Bible do not contradict. I reallyappreciate his technical approach to science and believes inthe Biblical account of Genesis in regards 6 literal days with the appearance of age and the undeniable worldwide flood in regards to Noah's Ark.

Good science, good reasoning
This is an excellent book, written with humor and humility by a fully competent scientist who has taken the journey from evolution to faith in Creation and the Creator. There are many such books but this is one of the best.
