This Asian Power Devices "APD WA-24E12 12V DC 2A Power AC Adapter" is essentially the same adapter that comes with HP External DVD Drives DVD1170 and DVD1270 (AKA DVD1270E). The brand and specs are identical. The only difference is that rather than a straight-line plug, this one offers a right-angle bend (plus an add-on extender dongle, if you have a need for it). The bend is of no consequence to the aforementioned drives: The plug fits perfectly.

works fine
My seagate hard drive wasn't turning on anymore after 10 years of use. I tested the charger with a multimeter, and the voltage was going all over the place. Replaced the charger with this one, and my hard drive works again!

Replacing damaged cord
