The Rolls Royce of Rat Blockers
God forbid if you ever need one of these .... but if you do then this is definitely the one to buy. Yes, it's very expensive but you get what you pay for. A top quality product that does the job.

Overpriced and doesn't work, aftercare is non existent
Way overpriced and It didn't work, rats can still sneak under it and when I tried to return it the seller Toolshouse refused the return despite it not working. I contacted Metex for advice and I spoke to someone who didn't seem to know anything about the device. Totally bizarre experience. Don't waste your time and money, might as well get a cheaper device to try out.

this is seriously well made
I ordered a Nordisk TX11 after receiving a recommendation, its more expensive than other alternative but its a seriously well made, its easy to install and locks securely in the drain. in my situation I needed to install it in a 3m deep sewer pipe, i used 3 extension rods and it was simple. I have absolutely no doubt that this will work perfectly. The service received from Metex Online was also first class - over all I would give this product 10 out of 10 and would give the same rating for service. If you think you have a rat issue this would be my first port of call from now on!

Very good but know these things in advance
I have installed two of these in my drains to deter rats from accessing the drains at my house from the main sewer. I have installed them on the sewer/outlet side of two inspection chambers. This means that if there is ever any blockage then it should be in the chamber and not in the pipes and hence should be easier to deal with. The rat blockers are easy enough to install but I did need the installation pole that I purchased at the same time. £40+ is a lot for a metal rod but it made installation possible rather than impossible. Installation was held up by 24 hours because the instructions say to coat with anti-seize grease the screw thread on the part of the assembly that tighens and loosens the fit for installation. This ensures that in the future it would be possible to remove the unit easily for servicing or whatever. It is always good to have a future maintenance option if needed and the anti-seize grease should stop the nut binding up on the thread in what is a wet and corrosive environment. The recommended ceramic anti-seize products in the instructions are hard to source in the UK. I used SilverHook Ceramic Grease - search B007D3H5G4 on Amazon. I believe this will work as well. I recommend buying it at the same time as the blocker. It is annoying that the need for such a product is not highlighted up front. I used a endoscope camera to check the fit. There is a larger gap under the flaps than I would wish. Rats can squeeze through very narrow gaps. Time will tell if this is an issue. Note that there will generally be a reason why the rats are attracted into your drains. In my case, it was a pipe that had been rendered redundant after building work some years ago. This was providing the rats with dry safe shelter. Online information suggests that this is a classic problem with properties that have been extended. Builders should close off any redundant pipework but they do not always do so. I used a drain plug to close off the redundant pipe run than luckily ended in an inspection chamber rather than under a new extension. Search for B00PFXQWOA on Amazon to find the style of plug that I used. These plugs tighten up in the redundant pipe and keep the rats out. Removing any such opportunity for shelter or food source whatever else it is that is attracting the rats will help remove the incentive for them to challenge the drain blocker. Time will tell if this combination of actions has been effective.

Superbly engineered product
The gate is quite expensive but the engineering quality is excellent and in my opinion worth the extra cost

Quality rat blocker
This is a top quality product made of stainless steel so should last a long time. The product is well designed with clear instructions. This item is straightforward to install in about 30 minutes including reading the instructions and testing afterwards.
