THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST CUTTER YOU CAN BUY !!!! AWESOME FUN TOOL !!!! HIGH QUALITY STUFF !!!! GET THIS ONE !!!!
UNREAL POWER CUTTER !!! SUPER MAN HANDS !!!! you don't have to have big hands to cut like a super power human with these things!!! holy cow buddy, this is the coolest thing ever made for cutting branches, BUT...... imagine trying to cut through dried 3/4 inch bamboo, it's like steel....try it with normal cutters, bypass cutters... you can't even nick it, why I do not know but for the hech of it I tried to cut this super hard bamboo, knowing it would never of course be able to, IT CUT IT LIKE BUTTER HARD 3/4 INCH DRIED BAMBOO !!!! this is by far better than i could imagine anything could cut, I need a special super sharp bamboo saw to cut this stuff, this has crazy power !!!!! the lock button.... use a drop of oil at the point that it slides on to to lock, and squeeze the handle when locking it, it will lock like a dream then, I am a tool guy, very much into that kind of stuff, THIS IS WELL MADE !!!! NOT JUNK BY ANY MEANS !!!! GOOD STUFF HERE!!!! also look at the handle , it dosen't have a loop handle it has normal handles, you can slip in into your pocket way easier than the others designs, the fit and finish.. excellent!!! congraadulations on making the best one of these ratchet "smooth as glass super cutters!!!! " I think if your trying to decide "what to buy" to ...cut stuff in the garden, camping, or just want to own the best ratchet cutter that you can get your hands on, get this one and you'll be happy!!! I know I am! any time you buy any brand new tool, oil it and wipe off the excess oil first, go over all of the points that move, everything gets smooth as glass then, nobody tells you that when you buy a new tool, so I will make sure I tell you all that, your tools will work better from day one, and last a lot longer that way. I hope this review helps the next guy trying to buy a tool like this, this is by far the best one, get this one! Awesome tool! it makes cutting stuff fun and easy. get cha one!

Hard to beat!!! Worth the price!!!
I was hesitant to buy these; I really like to hold a tool first. But the reviews were just good enough for me to take a chance. Let me tell you, I LOVE this tool! And at this price! It is in the top five for my gardening tools when balancing practicality, price, and quality. One positive aspect I didn't see mentioned is that it will still cut a branch that is narrower than the first ratchet point. Before using this, I really believed that I would have to carry my by-pass pruners for small cuts and these for large cuts. No need.My only negative observation is that the lock requires a very deliberate action to lock closed. With other pruners, I can lock without really thinking about it. This one, I have to stop and actually make an effort to engage the lock; unlocking is not a problem, though. It's a minor inconvenience, but something that I really notice when I'm trying to get a lot done. But, let me point out, the lock, so far, holds tightly. I have not suddenly found the tool unlocked from pulling it out of my pocket or something. My only 'grievance,' if you will, which applies to ALL of the companies that sell pruners, is that none of them offer sharpening tools designed for THEIR tools. I know that there are aftermarket sellers, but, why leave it to someone else? If you really care about your products and the user experience, then you should be involved in all aspects of its design. Sharpeners, lubes, cleaning agents, and so on.

Very good but falls short of expectation.
I do a lot of pruning so I got a collection of various pruning shears. From cheap $10 unit to the Felco 2 from Switzerland. However, I been searching forever for good anvil pruner as good as the one my parent got in the 80s or 90s from local hardware store. I don't think the brand exist anymore, all I know it's made in Japan and got "Shear Magic" stamped on the handle and I can't find it online. Even though the plastic locking lever broke it still cuts better than anything I found so far. yes, I still have it.So, my search on Amazon turned to this anvil pruner since it got high rating and is made in Taiwan. I figure it's worth a shot. Well, while it's not bad, it's doesn't cut as well as that old pruner.Pro: lightweight, cut big branches with little effort.Con: sticky locking mechanism. TThe ratchet mechanism is both a blessing and a curse. It lessen the effort but gets annoying on small branches that still require multiple triggering. In sum, I'm a bit disappointed but I also have to say it compare well with its peers. I wish I can give this a 3.5 star but don't such an option.oh, btw, I just ordered the Fiskar Power Lever Anvil pruner and I will do a review on that in the future.
