Can I use this bar on squats without having to use the handles?

I own the same bar from New York Barbell and I can confirm that you can safely use this bar hands free. The handles are in line with the camber of the bar which helps it balance perfectly on the shoulders. For example, I use the bar to do calf raises while holding on to my rack (as needed) so as not to lose my balance. If you feel like you are going to fail on a squat, you can remove your hands from the handles and place them on your knees, etc. It's a great bar.
