It’s different, but a good different
I bought this to be part of a cosplay as Ragnar Lothbrok from Vikings. I have no plans to cut wood or throw it. It is definitely well-made and has that authentic, rustic look that you would expect from a Viking-style weapon. This thing is not a toy. I sliced an entire sheet of paper in half by gently running the blade across. Don’t break it by chopping wood or throwing it—this is designed for killing (though I hope no one uses it for that reason). But it is exactly what I was looking for! However, it is not like the product’s photos. It’s darker, and the runes are right next to each other. But it honestly did not take away from my expectations at all. I love this axe.Key points: Don’t try to chop wood or throw it at anything, sharp as a razor, different color, slightly different positioning of runes, yet beautiful.Money well spent for Norse fanatics and/or collectors.

Actually works!
I used the axe to chop up some oak firewood, it's sturdy and sharp. Quality product.

Sent to me with nice Knick in edge
I didn’t like the chip in the edge, ridiculous they would send it like that! I reground the terrible bevel and got it sharp now. Put a patina on the steel, used tung oil on the bone dry leather. Head is secure and it’s a nice display piece now. Same period axe (9th century Norse Viking pattern) as the one Floki carried and used in the series Vikings. Very nice accurate rendition, but needs a few this and that’s to make it just right.

Now, his foes will shudder as they fall to their knees...
Or something like that... Got this for a friend who is a Viking and in need of a quality axe. So now he is out there, off his meds, with a beautiful 24" axe. Good luck America.Oh yeah, the axe is amazing. Odin smiled when my friend took possession of this quality piece. It's a heavy sucker. 2+ pounds. The leather wrap is very nice, as are the carved runes. The blade is phenomenal.Though my friend has but one eye, he sees the world clearly.Wait..maybe he IS Odin? Oh crap..never thought of that!

Solid
Fantastic recreation. It's the real deal. Will give you Viking warrior arms if you haul it around and put it to use daily.Still waiting for an opportunity to test its prowess in battle - and figure how to best display on a wall for immediate use (ICOE). Not the sort of thing to hide under ones pillow at night. Better as a 'next to the bed' stand-by unit (if you're not showcasing it). Sturdy, heavy, made to last - and sharp. I wonder how Vikings would respond to the warning about not using it for chopping wood though - would they stop short of hitting a shield? Even if this thing were dull bladed it is an equivalent to a 4# sledgehammer in weight, so use for re-enactment (or in real-time threat situations) is going to give an opponent reason to turn tail.

Leather wraps need to be bonded to the handle.
Other than that I love it. “Holster” , carrier, what ever that thing is is useless. Carry it in a hammer ring like framers do. Nice piece of work tho.

Beautiful Piece
The axe is solid. The blade is hard and doesn't need sharpened as often as some of my other axes. The wood is strong and doesnt mar easily. The craftsmanship is beautiful with the hand carved runes and small nails holding down the leather so it doesnt shift around on you. The balance is great too, it took maybe 3 tries to find the balance point and be able to repeatedly throw it and get it to stick in its target. Another quality piece!

Amazing!
Wow! This is the second product from Norse Tradesman I have purchased, the quality and workmanship are amazing. It looks like you reached back in time and plucked from a viking's belt this beautiful axe. I highly recommend this axe to any vikings, or anyone who likes to pretend they are.

Overall ok
I was overall impressed with the axe, was cool and pretty authentic looking. Problems were axe head was really loose and will need to b fixed, leather was cheaper and didnt really match the quality of material like head and was nailed to handle so will b rewrapping that, & handle was a bit warped so now replacing that. I expected a bit more for the price of it.

Authentic
I love the axe! It is sturdy and intimidating and it makes me feel powerful... too powerful. The axe is corrupting me.I bought the axe for D&D roleplaying, and it really makes you feel like a ruthless barbarian with a dangerous and chaotic weapon. I believe it is the authenticity of the axe that brings rise to these feelings. It was definitely a good buy and the company did plenty to ensure my satisfaction.
