I bought a 'used' acceptable hummingbird book . It came just like brand new . Lots of interesting information. Beautiful pictures.

A great book for anyone who wants to attract and feed hummingbirds, it's packed with all the basic information you'll need, starting with choosing the right feeder for your area, the sugar solution to put in it, and the maintenance and cleaning of it, which the Stokes say: "We can't emphasize enough how important it is to take feeder maintenance seriously", as any mold or bacteria can be "risking the health, and possibly the lives", of these jeweled wonders of the bird family...and they show you the easy steps to be taken to keep the feeders clean. There are also 6 pages on orioles, who can be seen sometimes at hummer feeders. It gives a "quick guide" to 8 species of these beautiful birds, with lovely photos to help identification. It also shows how one can set up feeders specifically for orioles, and the sugar solution to use, which is slightly different from that of the hummer mixture. Chapters on the "Hummingbird Habitat" and "Gardening", give you a list of plants and flowers that hummers like the most, by geographical region. "Amazing Facts" truly is amazing. Among the many fascinating things you'll learn is that their heart can beat 1,260 times per minute, but can sometimes slow down to 50 beats per minute at night to conserve energy. There are other chapters on "Myths", "Baby Hummingbirds", and "Photographing Hummingbirds". Nearly half the book is devoted to the identification of the different species, with photos, maps, behaviour patterns, and much more. Once you've identified your visitors, you'll get to know the idiosyncrasies of the species, and it's sure to add to the joy and delight of watching these miraculous little creatures.

This book is very informative and the photos are amazing with the details you need to identify hummingbirds. It is the book to get if you are starting to get interested in everything about these incredible birds.

The pictures were great, and much information was good. My only disappointment was that I live on the East Coast of USA and there are only ruby throated hummers visiting here. The rest of the hummers are central and western or north USA and Canada.

I believe I purchased this about the same time as I ordered my feeders from Aspects and I am very glad I did ! I am a person who reads for information so I want answers right away ! This book is well organized with lots of info that is easily accessed. It let me know that it could be awhile before I get to see my little "flying jewels" & the reasons why. If you enjoy hummingbirds & want to make the most of the area you have (no matter what size) this explains all the options. I got my first "hummer" exactly 3 weeks after putting up my first feeders. This answered every question I had & is affordable. Hope you enjoy it too.

I bought this for a friend, but paged through it. Very interesting tidbits about these precious tiny birds God made.

This book was purchased as a gift for a dear friend who loves hummingbirds. There are many gorgeous photos to accompany a wide variety of topics. I especially liked the section dealing with what we can plant in our gardens to provide nourishment for the hummingbirds. I plan to purchase this book for myself after the holidays, as it really impressed me as a valuable wildlife resource.

I have several books for bird identification but wanted something more in-depth about hummingbirds. This meets all those needs.

This is a fabulous book. It’s great for anyone who loves hummingbirds. I bought it as a gift for my mom, she loves to sit outside and watch her hummingbirds fly around and use her feeders. She keeps feeders up all year long. Hummingbirds are one of her absolute favorite animals in the whole world. So she loved this book, she gained so much more knowledge about hummingbirds from reading it. It has wonderful color pictures. It really is the perfect book for anyone who loves these tiny birds.
