I’ve been reading the TSITP series since I was 14, and it’s become one of my go-to comfort reads. Rereading it now brings such a wave of nostalgia, and I still get so invested in the characters and story. It’s wild to think it’s a TV show now! The writing is simple, but there’s a lot happening beneath the surface- Jenny leaves so much unsaid, and figuring it out yourself makes it feel much deeper than it first appears.For anyone who hasn’t read it, The Summer I Turned Pretty follows Belly as she navigates summers at Cousins Beach, dealing with love, friendship, and the bittersweet changes that come with growing up. The story is heartfelt, funny, and full of emotional moments that stick with you.The physical books are just as charming as the story itself. The covers are bright, fun, and really pop on my bookshelf, adding a little joy every time I see them. This series is timeless for me, and even with the simplicity of the prose, I can’t help but give it a full five stars.
