I bought this book used since the price of a new edition is steep. The book arrived in good time but I was disappointed with the amount of underlining and marking throughout the book. If I knew how much it was marked up, I would not have bought it.Delivery service and time was very good.

Have read this book numerous times preparing for promotional tests. Easy to read and very informative. Highly recommended for anyone in the fire service.

This book promulgates many of the myths about fire behavior. Shiny alligators do not mean a rapidly spreading fire, nor does a sharp line of demarcation in the cross-section of wood indicate a rapid heat buildup, nor does crazed glass mean anything other than hot glass got wet. A narrow V pattern does not mean that a fire spread more rapidly than a shallow V pattern.Much has been learned about fire behavior since this book was published 21 years ago. Fire investigators are required by NFPA 1033 to stay current. This book is definitely NOT current.Its only value is learning about the history of fire investigation, and showing all of the things that we used to believe.
