Hate the packs? Return to the vest!
I'm old enough to remember when fly fishing vests were all there was. In fact, I had one from that time period and used it fairly successfully for a long while. Now the rage is all waist, shoulder and front and back packs. I tried a front pack, but it didn't have near enough room in it for the things I wanted/needed. I can't do a shoulder pack because the shoulder I don't cast with gets sore. The waist ones are too low (and get wet if you wade in too far). I just like a vest. I do. THIS vest is ROOMY! and light weight and holds so many things! I can get two fly boxes in easily, as well as some tippet spools, nippers, extra leader packs, etc. ALL the things. It doesn't allow you to strap on an extra rod, and I know that's big for some anglers. But for overall carrying of all the things, it's great. The pocket on the back is HUGE and can hold an extra hat, extra reel (I use it for this often) and even some water or a soda if you want to carry that along. If you just really like a vest, this newest version is the one to trade up to. Love it.

Great idea but awkward to use
I wear a large t-shirt, so I ordered a large vest; should have ordered an extra-large -- these run small. The only loops on this vest are for the tippet holder(s). There's nowhere to attach floatant, dry fly, or tippet mud, a fly dryer, lead putty, etc. except with pin-back zingers. The idea of attaching the forceps under the fly patch is iffy; I want mine attached to something so I won't lose them if I drop them. Ooops, that's another zinger. With all those zingers, things get tangled on the vest. The fly box pockets work OK is you use the long, slim fly boxes, e.g., tacky boxes, max of four. Awkward with boxes like the C&F threaders. Because of the way it's made, the top front pockets are right under your chin and difficult to look into; even the lower pockets are very high on your body and difficult to use for small items, e.g., split shot.. But...it is much cooler than my regular Orvis vest. To make it work properly I'm considering buying a lanyard to hold all the things that donโt have a place in/on this vest.

Husband Loves this Fishing vest!
I bought this as a gift for my husband. It fits him perfect (true to size). He said it is really light weight which makes it comfortable for all day fishing trips. He also told me that he is able to keep a good supply of his fishing gear in the multiple pockets.

Light weight and comfortable.
We actually returned the vest as it was too snug. We got a XL. My husband has only gotten a chance to use it twice but seemed VERY happy with the vest. I suggest going up one size to allow room when wearing waders.

I recommend buying the next size from your usual size.
Very light and comfortable. Quality seems good, however I recommend buying the next size up. I bought a large and had to return it for an extra large.

excellent vest, very light and quality materials
excellent vest, very light and quality materials. I got a medium and I am 6'01" very form fitting and rides high on the medium which is fine, it's there to hold stuff. packs well in a case and has plenty of pockets. What I like about this vest is that it has a minimalistic emphasis over the other vests out there that just have to much bulk when it's not needed.

Extremely light weight
Absolutely perfect light weight fishing garment. Having a light gear jacket is essential being in a creek, stream or river. Worth every dollar plus more.
