Do the mice get trapped inside?

No. It's not a trap. There is a hole at each end that the rats (or mice) enter and exit through.

Instructions for rat box

It's very simple to use, put on gloves, empty packet of poison into tray supplied and put inside black box, ensure you lock the box and place on the rat run! Mine was from next doors decking into our garden, so placed it by the fence in line with the hole. Very successful
