Paper won't stay on the spool if you tip the machine to try and see where it feeds in when you load the paper in the machine. Paper guides inside the machine don't work right and if not watched, which I don't do when adding a long list of figures, the paper jams, and oh, what a jam you can have if not caught early. I didn't catch it, and my husband and I couldn't get the jammed paper out. He is still trying, but in the meantime, I ordered another machine, this time an Adler-Royal 1448PD Heavy Duty Professional Business Desktop Printing Calculator/Adding Machine. Couldn't find it on Amazon, so had to go elsewhere. I had a Royal 248PDII that I've had for at least 15 to 20 years or more. The paper holder finally gave out and I am forced to get a new machine. I should have stuck with an Adler-Royal after having such good luck with my old one, but had thought all the financial features on the Victor might be nice. Live and learn. I just hope the new machine is made as well as my old Royal 248PDII.
