I use a direct box and go into one of the xlr inputs or use a preamp. Overall though, I’m very happy with the X32-Rack. **Q: How many rack units does it take up? 3u, 4u?** A: I’m 95% sure it’s a 3U. I have it racked up with a 1U power conditioner and my rack is full. **Q: Does the usb output provide for multi-track recording to a daw? some of the literature seems to suggest that it only does a stereo mix.** A: The X32 rack w/ usb card (on the back, type-B) does do 32 in x 32 out for multi-track recording into a daw. So all of the inputs are on separate tracks in my daw. I've been using it for this purpose with Sonar for years. The usb (type-A) on the front only does stereo recording to a portable drive. The Behringer XR12 is the one that only does stereo mix via usb (I have that one too for smaller gigs). **Q: Can it be used wireless from board to rack bored** A: We use it wireless with iPads.
