Buy this toilet with Kohler slow close seat then add LumiLux toilet bowl lights - fantastic
Act quickly before this model is regulated/banned by the various state governments. It uses 1.6 gallons per flush. Flush is fantastic and cleans the bowl - every time. Most people are buying the 1 gallon per flush toilet models to help conserve water. Problem is (every parent knows this) the water wise toilets do not flush well - frequently requiring three and four flushes. In addition, you need to keep a plunger and toilet bowl brush close by as there is simply not enough water to do a proper flush. Instead of saving money, sometimes you are left what looks like a "crime scene" and even bigger water bills.I am going through a remodel and this has proven one of the best remodeling investments I have made. New paint, crown moldings, new floors all seem better because of these new toilets. The toilet itself is at comfort height, high quality and super easy to install. The tank within the tank is already installed so you are flushing in less than 30 minutes.Whats it like when you flush? The water in the bowl and contents are gone in less than two seconds. I mean - all gone. Toilet bowl then fills almost immediately. There is additional flush noise but is very acceptable considering you now only flush once. These toilets do NOT use conventional flappers so leaking or constantly running toilets that can and $hundreds to your water bill is history.I installed the Lumilux LED toilet bowl lights to add some color and drama. The lights are motion activated and you have your choice of color. Lights stay on for about 15 seconds or until you turn on the bathroom light. Three AA batteries required and they last up to a year. My favorite color is blue. Guys, this blue light helps improve your aim 100% at night. Helps keep kid's toilet terrors away. when they have to use the toilet at night as the toilet becomes their friend - not the monster they have nightmares about.I changed out three toilets in my house and now each bathroom has the same toilet. My wife was skeptical and my son said he didn't care. Now they both say the benefits are amazing and feel this represents one of the best improvements you can make.Your house guests, women in particular cringe when they have to use their host's bathroom. When they flush and their freshly produced brown buddies will not go away, they are mortified and will flush to infinity until they are finally gone. The Kohler K-3493 solves this particular and embarrassing problem. One flush and the waste is sent to the next zip code. Conversation piece.Amazon shipped them perfectly. Toilets are packed to withstand rough and tumble delivery.

Solution to Flush Lever Problems
I rarely write reviews, but perhaps I can help some other individuals who have purchased the Kohler K-3493, and experienced flush lever problems. I own two of these toilets. The first K-3493 I purchased the flush lever and actuator linkage worked perfectly. I decided to purchase another K-3493 to replace another toilet in my home. When the second K-3493 arrived, the flush lever (aka trip lever) and the actuator linkage were essentially not connected. It was impossible to link the two so that the flush handle would link up with the actuator lever to flush the toilet. Close inspection of the toilet revealed the cause. The Flushmate tank was rotated to the right in the toilet bowl. When viewing the tank from the front, the left-hand side of the Flushmate tank was higher than the left, with an apparent clockwise rotation of the Flushmate tank to the right. This rotation displaced the Flushmate actuator arm away from the lever handle arm causing the lever problem. The toilet tank was disconnected from the toilet base and the outflow gasket was removed. This revealed that the 3 inch nut on the outflow pipe of the Flushmate tank had been cross threaded! Please refer to the attached photo. This nut had been torqued down at the Kohler factory with such force to effectively rotate the Flushmate tank in a clockwise direction. Please note that these are plastic threads which should only be hand tightened. The 3 inch nut had been torqued down with such force that I had to use a large set of channel locks in conjunction with extreme force to loosen the nut. During this process loud audible screeches were heard emanating from the threads on the outlet of the Flushmate tank.I cannot understand how this toilet tank was allowed to leave the Kohler factory with the linkage which would not flush properly, and a toilet tank that was improperly positioned. I contacted Flushmate Customer Service, who promptly shipped out a replacement Flushmate tank. Kudos to Flushmate who deserve a five star rating, and provide great customer service. I received the replacement tank, which was easily installed in the toilet bowl. I hand tightened the threads on the 3 inch nut and just slightly applied the channel locks to complete the job. Again it is beyond reason why anyone at Kohler would torque down the Flushmate tank with such force. Once the replacement tank was installed the OEM actuator linkage coupled to the lever handle arm perfectly. Thus the lever handle problems are a manifestation of an improperly positioned tank rather than a defect in the design of the actuator linkage. The new toilet has now been installed and appears to be working properly. You would think that Kohler Customer Service might have offered to ship out a new toilet tank given the fact that the unit was new, defective, and cost me $474. But no, the women in their Customer Service department apparently expect their customers to replace the innards of their new toilet tanks, which are defective right out of the factory! In terms of function the Kohler K-3493 should receive a five star rating, but the lack of quality control at the Kohler factory coupled by the apparent indifference of their Customer Service department gives them a one star rating at best.
