## Description

Product Description Take on the role of great generals and military leaders throughout history as they fight the battles for borders, wealth and glory. desertcart.com In Command & Conquer: Generals gamers choose from three radically different fighting forces, build an army from the ground up, and seek out and destroy opposing players' armies and bases. Your three choices are the USA, the Chinese, and the Global Liberation Army (a group of freedom fighters/terrorists). Each force has unique strengths and weaknesses; Generals does a good job making the three forces differ in more than aesthetics. The USA has costly but technically advanced units along with a stunningly powerful Air Force, the Chinese have weak but cheap ground units that gain advantages when attacking in large groups, and the GLA has a ramshackle army that relies on stealth. Each force caters to a completely different style of play, and playing around to find the group that you'll like the most is a lot of fun. One of the game’s most important innovations is the Generals point system. This system allows both the player and his units to gain experience points for each enemy kill. Experienced units will become hardier and more dangerous, and the player will gain points to spend on new technologies or special attacks. Each force has its own selection of bonuses you can purchase in this manner, and more experienced generals have access to increasingly powerful items. Generals is the first title in the Command & Conquer franchise to go fully 3-D, and it looks absolutely gorgeous. All of the models and environments in the game look really good, and it's both cool and useful to rotate the camera around to get different perspectives on the battlefield. The tradeoff here is that Generals has extremely high system requirements, and you're going to have to go even higher than the posted minimum if you want consistently smooth gaming performance. In fact, you're probably going to have noticeable slowdowns if you're not running approximately the equivalent of a 1.5GHZ processor and a GeForce 3 or better. Ever since the release of the first Command & Conquer game in 1995, the C&C franchise has practically defined real-time strategy gaming. With a half dozen original titles and a handful of expansion packs released on a multitude of gaming platforms, any new C&C game has some seriously large boots to fill. Fortunately for gamers, Command & Conquer: Generals has not only met those previous expectations, but raised the bar once again.--Jon "Safety Monkey" GroverPros: Great looking, fully 3-D graphics All 3 races are fun, yet fully distinct from each other Innovative Generals point system Fun single-player campaigns; exciting multiplayer over Internet or LAN Cons: Very high system requirements P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); From the Manufacturer Command & Conquer: Generals puts your trigger finger on the pulse of modern warfare. Become a powerful general and control massive armies of bleeding-edge military weaponry across a globe teetering on the brink of Armageddon. Command one of three unique sides, each with customizable high-tech arsenals ready to deliver unprecedented firepower on land or in the skies. Annihilate the opposition in the 23-mission single-player campaign or dish out the damage in global multiplayer mayhem. Prepare your forces, Commander, it's time to engage in the next generation of real-time strategy. See more

Review: 10 out of 10 - WOW --get the deluxe version, this game is that RAD!!! this is a stand alone version, with Zero Hour as a expansion--yes get the expanstion as well--for the added options. its a very good game even without Zero Hour--but why deprive yourself!?! the super wepons are more realistic, than in red alert 2. That was the only thing RA2 really needed to impove on --an they did with this game. you choose a general to fight as---EACH with their own army style--ie.. tank genral has all tanks at a lower production cost, limited air force. Air force general has all aircraft available at a reduced perduction cost, an fewer tanks, an tanks costing a bit more. get the ideal oh, an they have a army general that uses booby traps, and underground bunkers, build one bunker an put 5 tanks in it--then build another bunker elsewere---like near enemy lines--an 5 tanks drive out at your command. better looking gameplay-more missle trails, brighter colors- more real looking flames, crisp sound, ingaging music yes, I truly enjoy this game, more than any other pc game I own that says a lot concidering i have sooo many to choose from
Review: Best Command and Conquer Yet! - Generals is the best Command and Conquer yet. It has three unique and equal armies to choose from. When I play online, China seems to be the most popular. The graphics have improved from Red Alert 2 and you cant say anything about this game until you have seen a nuke go off in an enemies base. Dont waste your money on this game if you dont have a newer computer. It has HIGH system requirements. Save your money and upgrade your computer or buy a new one. This is a great game and playing online is lots of fun. 5 Stars!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: will this product work with windows 7, 8 and 10?**
A: ReplyIn reply to _JC_'s post on July 14, 2010
I FOUND THIS POSTED BY SOME GENIUS CALLED DARKRAJIN AND IT WORKS ON GENERALS AND GENERALS ZERO HOUR

This I found on another page and thought I would share it here as it worked for me.

I have a core i5 laptop running windows 7 home premium 64-bit with an ATI graphics card and I had exactly the same problems getting C&C Generals and Zero Hour to work.
Good News - Have just successfully managed to get it working, and it IS Windows 7 that causes the problem, specifically it's to do with access permissions to folders - Windows 7 blocks access to folders that Generals uses to run.
The way I fixed it was:
In 'My Documents' (usually at C:\users\YOURNAME\documents) there should be a folder named 'Command and Conquer Generals Data' or 'Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data', which was put there when you installed the game. You need to create a text file using notepad and save it into this folder. However, you must click 'save as' and change the type drop-down box from text file (.txt) to 'all files'. Then save the file as 'options.ini'
Before you save, paste this text into the file to get you started:
AntiAliasing = 1
BuildingOcclusion = yes
DrawScrollAnchor =
DynamicLOD = no
ExtraAnimations = yes
GameSpyIPAddress = 0.0.0.0
Gamma = 50
IPAddress = 0.0.0.0
IdealStaticGameLOD = High
LanguageFilter = true
MaxParticleCount = 5000
MoveScrollAnchor =
MusicVolume = 55
Resolution = 1024 768
Retaliation = yes
SFX3DVolume = 79
SFXVolume = 71
ScrollFactor = 50
SendDelay = no
ShowSoftWaterEdge = yes
ShowTrees = yes
StaticGameLOD = Custom
TextureReduction = 0
UseAlternateMouse = no
UseCloudMap = yes
UseDoubleClickAttackMove = no
UseLightMap = yes
UseShadowDecals = yes
UseShadowVolumes = yes
VoiceVolume = 100
This is simply how the game remembers what options you picked (music volume, brightness and the like) and you can change them once the game is running using the options menu.
Now the key bits - firstly, make sure that you have full read/write permissions for the Command and Conquer Generals Data folder - do this by right clicking on the folder, then properties then the security tab and change the permissions for all users. It might also be worth making sure no files are "Read-Only" in that folder.
Then change the game's compatibility mode by right clicking on the game in the start menu, clicking on properties and then the Compatibility tab. I used the "Change settings for all users" button at the bottom and changed to Windows XP (SP3), as well as checking the "Run as administrator box".
Hey presto! It worked, debunking the myth that C&C Generals will not run on 64 bit systems (as some people have been saying). In fairness, I haven't tried online multiplayer yet, just a few skirmishes.
Good Luck!

**Q: can you download the game without using the disc**
A: No, the actual CD is needed to install this version of the game, and CD must be in the drive to play. Check with the Origin (EA platform) to see if a downloaded version is still available.

**Q: How much storage does this require?**
A: My installed copy is just over 1.5GB

**Q: does it work on windows 10 pro**
A: NO .it will down load , but it doesn't work 

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seriously excellent war game scenarios
*by D***G on August 31, 2017*

Seriously excellent war game scenarios. You feel like you are in the middle of the action because you are the center of the action. Try out different scenarios, a zillion combinations. If I need an intense hour ride, I play myself and two allies against three enemy opponents on the brutal level. Will get your blood pumping. Price is a bargain. Dave Harding
