Purchasing our Motorization Kit is the easiest way to motorize your Country Living Mill. It has a gear reduction motor attached to a birch base. It also comes with a safety guard to hide the pulley wheels and belt. All you have to do is bolt your Country Living Mill to the mount, attach the belt and belt guard and it’s ready to go. Just like the Country Living Mill, the motorization kit is built to last for many years. With this kit, your mill turns at about 60 rpm to insure a cool grind for all your flours. As long as you have electricity this is a wonderful way to grind your flour. It’s very quiet (you can actually have a conversation standing next to it), and the grind is very cool. We’ve had our motorization kit on the Country Living Grain Mill for over four years, and ground flour for friends, neighbors, and a large extended family. There has been minimal wear on the grinding plates, and the motor has performed flawlessly. In short, we love it.

Works as described.
The media could not be loaded. This is a well-made grain mill that has augers that are easy to change, as needed, for other grains. I also bought the motor, which my husband hooked up in a short time, but, we could use the hand crank, if necessary, by disconnecting the motor and screwing the handle back on. It will grind my wheat berries so fine that it can get on the front of the mill, table ,etc. To remedy that, he bought a dollar plastic tub and cut a small slot out of the side. Works great! It does not come with the optional hopper lid, so he made one. Note: it is rather loud if you're trying to talk over it. No problem.

Very well-thought-out design
Very compact and nice configuration. This is a rather expensive option, which is why I withheld the last star, but as far as form and function go, this is a top notch solution. Relatively quiet (not much louder than hand cranking) and does not take up an inordinate amount of room. Unlike some of the reviewers, I like the fact that the wood comes unfinished, as I already made a bench to put this grinder onto, and I prefer to finish this with the same finish. I can see why some would like it to come finished for the price charged, but in my case, this worked in my favor. It does not grind the wheat significantly faster than I can grind by hand, but I don't wear myself out and I can start it and walk away and do other things, while this does its thing. I am pleased with this purchase and would recommend to others who like me, live the Country Living Grain Mill and want a motorized option.

Expensive Item
High Cost puts it in “luxury” category but with a bad rotor cuff found I couldn't do without it if I wanted to continue to use grain mill. Base board surface is unfinished/rough so flour clings. If base was poly coated with rounded corners you might feel better about high cost.

Gearbox lasted about 5 years before it spilled grease
Gearbox lasted about 5 years. At least that is when I started to notice some oil spots on the board under the motor. Looks like the gearbox gave up the ghost, if ghosts were made of thick grease...Having said that, it's much better than grinding by hand.

Took a load off.
Our children helped us grind two kinds of flour and corn one Saturday. It takes a long time to grind a product into flour or meal. Our five kids took turns turning the extended handle on our Country Living Grain Mill. It took most of the day to grind and fill three one gallon zip loc bags. The novelty wore off rather quickly. But the main reason we purchased the motorized kit was to make sure the turn rate was consistant. Even I changed from a fast to slower turn rate over a period of an hour. I counted the turns periodically for the whole family and it went from around ninety RPMs to forty. I had to adjust the plate tension periodically because the spring would heat up when the RPMs were too high and change the gap distance between the plates. With the motor turning somwwhere around fifty RPMs the gap between the plates stays consistant. I really like the motor kit a lot. It also frees us up to spend more time doing other things in the kitchen.

The price is a bit high, but it makes ...
The price is a bit high, but it makes grinding dramatically easier, just load and do whatever. It is a bit on the slow side, taking about an hour and a half to go through 30 pounds of barley. It would have been nicer if it was mounted closer to the edge to make it easier to direct the flour into a bucket, but an hour on the 3d printer made a workable chute to get around that.

Works well, but pricey
This kit does what it's supposed to do, and it certainly makes it easier to grind grain while doing other things. Actually, the biggest benefit is that you can set your mill to a very fine consistency, which would normally take too long to grind by hand (an hour or so for two loaves of bread). It's a bit noisy, so you'll probably want to put it in another room. The construction is decent, but not indestructible. The biggest downside is the cost. It's VERY expensive given that it's just a motor mounted to a slab of wood. If you're at all mechanically inclined, you could probably build one for less than half the cost. At the very least, they could have stained the base to give it a slightly more finished look.

Grind'n
Nice unit, well made. Has little footies on the bottom so it does not scratch my table.I will be modifying the unit as the the space between the grinder discharge and the mounting board does not allow a lot of room. I will cut out the board so I can place a decent sized containor below
