A factual overview
I bought this book for my Dad as his Uncle had been in the 52nd. His view of the book was that it was ok... very much a factual overview and accurate enough. But he did say it was very much a case of 'history written by people who weren't there' and that it didn't add much to what he already knew (although it's only fair to note that Dad has read widely on the subject and has a strong preference for accounts written by people involved rather than the bird's eye view). So if you are looking for a factual account rather than a personal one, and you are not already well-read on the 52nd, this could be a useful introduction. For the history buffs, don't bother!

52nd Lowland
Having already read "mountain & flood" by George Blake, I consider the "Fighting 52nd recce" to be an additional referance to the regiment My father fought in during the 2nd World war. It personnaly gave Me an insight into the trials and tribulations that the regiment went through. Excellant reading.

Historical interest
This is well written book of very special historical interest, particularly to those whom had relatives who were members of this specific army regiment during WWII. In my case, I wanted to read it because my father was in the regiment. I would highly recommend it to others who may have similar interests in the subject matter.
