Little Gems book
A small book, easy to hold. Great for a slightly older reader that finds lots of text either difficult or boring. An unusual story but good nonetheless and it made us want to find out a little more about the stone 'Blue John' that the story is based on.

I have been waiting for this to come into print for years - it's a bit of a disappointment. They key story is there, but its a book that's only about 6 inches tall. Some of the original wording has changed, not for the better. But most disappointing is the loss of the most wonderful artwork that was found in the original. This I have always used as an inspiration for KS2 children writing their own version of Blue John. The new pictures lack the magic of the previous ones and are missing any real depth. Sad.

Beautiful lyrical story
A brilliant story for developing the imagination. Ideal bedtime read for children and quite poetic.

Wonderful!!!!
Berlie Doherty's use of language and storytelling is superb, she is a master of the craft, there is not a word out of place here. This is also a beautifully illustrated story,it's a crying shame that the 'publishers' have let it go out of print, when it is a school curriculum book here in West Sussex, no wonder second hand prices are as high as £406.80!!!Wake up Publishers, you have a hidden treasure in your midst!
