Essential reading for team coaches, and for intelligent leaders looking to shift their team leadership to the next level
I enjoyed the first edition of this book, which is clear, insightful, practical and very digestible for people like me who are coaching leadership teams. It was one of the core texts on the postgraduate course I took in team coaching and the author’s thinking has helped shape my own approach to this emerging discipline. At times, though, I felt the first edition was almost too digestible – too much of a departure from the rich density of some of Hawkins’ earlier books. What the second edition offers is both an update and a meatier meal. There’s more of a focus on tools team leaders can use to coach their own teams – not the whole range of tools Peter Hawkins uses in his own team coaching, but specifically the ones that CEOs have applied themselves. He also addresses the matter of selecting the right team members, which is all too often overlooked in a world of gut reactions and nicey-nicey team builds. And he tackles the wild frontier of coaching multiple teams on how best to partner in order to deliver on their shared endeavour.Essential reading for team coaches, and for intelligent leaders looking to shift their team leadership to the next level.

To keep with you and reflect with as you practise leadership team coaching
As with other works, Leadership Team Coaching is a book packed with insight, ideas, concepts and 'gifts' that you can take, shape and apply in your own way as you work wtih Leaders and Leadership teams. Peter Hawkins brings together numerous influences in this work from his own wide reading, experience and practice. At first glance some of the models or frameworks seem so simple and can be 'simply' applied, and yet mastering each aspect and understanding the space that can be created as a coach in the team context will keep me busy for a long time yet.Rather than being a 'how to do it' guide, this book offers perspectives, tools and techniques that can be integrated with your unique practice, adding substantially.

Love this new edition!
I was really pleased to read through Peter Hawkin's 2nd edition of Leadership Team Coaching. The book is packed with Hawkin's field experience, covers a solid review of the literature, and offers tips and tools for new and also seasoned practitioners like myself. I particularly liked the methods, tools and techniques chapter with the High Performing Questionnaire, team charter including green and red cards that support actioning desired behaviours (behaviours wanted and not wanted on the team are identified. Team members give each others feedback on these behaviours), the floating team sculpt (which I have used with great success), team sociomapping software tools, and a guide to which tool to use when. Fabulous addition to the OD and coaching literature!Dr. Catherine Carr, PCC, RCC

In true Hawkins form, the author provides an eminently accessible and systematic guide for all of us who work with teams to enhance their collective contribution. This as an absolute must for anyone involved in developing teams in organisations-it is an essential resource for both OD professionals and coaches;leaders of teams and those supervising team coaching. He masterfully sets the dialogue against the context in which teams operate and gives up practical ways in which teams can reach high performance. A definitive exploration into the craft of leadership team coaching.

Excellent book on team coaching - fully recommended
Peter Hawkins’ book on team coaching is an excellent tool for professional team coaches and leaders alike. As a team coach I particularly enjoy the way the author combines solid methodology and models with a wealth of concrete examples from organisational life, and specific exercises and tools. I find myself returning to the book for inspiration and specific advice regularly. In addition, I have referred several senior leaders I coach to specific chapters in the book (e.g. chapter 3 on high performing teams, and chapter 10 specifically written for CEOs on how to develop high performing teams). As a team coach, this is the most comprehensive, convincing and helpful book I have come across on the topic – I can fully recommend it.
