Lord, Only You Can Change Me: A Devotional Study on Growing in Character from the Beatitudes

This devotional is such an eye opener. It really breaks down parts of scriptures and helps to give a deeper understanding of it. This devotional has really opened my eyes!

The Beatitudes have always been difficult for me to understand. I recommend working through this study at your own pace. (Instead of the scheduled 9 weeks, it took me several months to complete LORD, Only You Can Change Me. This gave me time to reflect upon my learning, as well as apply my learning to my daily life. This Bible study has improved my walk with Jesus.

Great book based on biblical lessons

I ordered this book for a women's bible study at my home. I have done 2 other "Lord" series books, but I have to say that this one has been my favorite so far. Because its the actual teaching and words of Jesus, I feel like the Holy Spirit is penetrating my heart with His Word. Though I've been a Christian for many years, I know that God is teaching me something huge through this book - what it really means to allow Him to be the Sovereign Lord of my life, and how humility plays a huge role in my Christian walk. The other thing I love about Kay Arthur's bible study "books" are that they are 90% bible and 10% of her own thoughts - I respect that about this author, she really allows God to use her in a mighty way to teach His Word and to encourage us "lay people" to recognize that God can speak directly to us through His Words and we are capable of hearing His message directly from him, not just from our pastors, teachers or commentaries.

We are using this study for a small group at church. It is wonderful. It isn't like Kay Arthur's precept studies that require lots of marking and rereading over and over again. This one poses very good questions and includes all the scripture you need to read. We will do another part of this, "Lord..." series when we finish this one.

This Bible study has been one of the best I have ever done. Kay Arthur is a brilliant woman of God, and she is very detailed in her study. This book looks at Matthew 6-8, called the Sermon on the Mount, and she looks in depth at how the words of Jesus can change us from the inside out. Sometimes I struggle with things like how to pray more, how to grow deeper in my relationship with Christ, and things like that. This Bible study has been phenomenal, and Kay Arthur again does not disappoint. Excellent study by an excellent believer! I would recommend 100 times over.

Each chapter is full of passages and discussion questions to facilitate a lively discussion. It delves deeply into concepts and is making all of us think and ponder how and what we need to do differently in our lives.

Kay puts a different spin on the familiar Sermon on the Mount ... including the Beatitudes. This is a good group study. It is a bit challenging for the new believers so consideration should be taken in determining if this would be a good study for your individual group. Kay also uses a lot of symbols to reference texts that can be both helpful and confusing ... again depending on where your group is at in studying God's word. I would highly recommend having a facilitator preview reading assignments to ensure newer believers don't get confused or discouraged.
