PetSafe Drinkwell Platinum Dog and Cat Water Fountain Replacement Pump

Replacement pump for Petsafe Platinum Cat Water Fountain - last one lasted 4.5 years. Works as it is supposed to with no noise from the pump. Exactly the same as the previous pump so fits perfectly.

If yours stops working, take it out of the unit and keep it plugged in. Now tap, knock it on the side a few times and it should come back to life. I think the magnet that rotates the motor ends up in a position that means it sometimes doesn't spin and seems broken, it isn't - just give it a little knock to get it going again. Also, clean the thing and inspect how it comes apart as you can dismantle more than you first expect with a bit of care. It'll be gunked up if not cleaned regulary.

I bought this pump in Feb 2019, we are now in October and it appears to have stopped working. It is rubbish I thought but in looking at you tube I saw a video by accident (PetSafe—How to Clean the Drinkwell Fountain Pump ) which explains that the pump comes apart and should be cleaned inside! Well no wonder it wasn't working. It was really dirty. I threw the last one away and that was probably because it was dirty! Thank god it works again now. Good product.

I'm not sure which idiot thought it was a good idea to ship this product to the UK with a non UK transformer plug but they need to be sent back to the village they came from! Fortunately, in my case, it was my pump that was broken, not the transformer plug, so I was able to use the existing transformer plug. The new pump itself works fine! However, it might have been different and the product would have been useless.

I'm tired of replacing pumps. The burnout rate is ridiculous - just long enough they won't replace it.

These pumps are great but I just wish they had a cutout when the water runs out. Ive burnt out a few of these over the last 4 years because of this feature not being available.

I have one of the original style model pet fountains, well over 10 years old. The pump finally gave out and the closest I could find was this one. I was fairly confident that it would operate OK but when it arrived the extension lever was much bigger in diameter and length and wouldn't clear the opening. The little drop down "fence" would also not fit over it. What to do? The pump itself is a perfect fit except for this oversized control arm (I still don't think it does much anyway). So in the end the solution was to simply remove it! Now the pump settles in nicely into its proper spot and I can replace the "fence". The pump works as expected and the fountain appearance is the same except no lever sticking out. The intake is wide open and the flow is good and strong. So far no issues but I expect that it may tend to clog up a bit faster, but no problem you have to clean it anyway.
