Why didn't I start using this sooner?
I'm mad at myself for not trying this sooner. It was a game changer for my mulched beds and all but eliminated the need for weeding, whereas I spent hours on upkeep in years prior. I'm going to use this even more liberally next year. The process is easy to understand and follow, and I appreciated that you didn't have to wait a long time before it was safe for pets and kids. My master gardener mother always uses this and I should have picked it up sooner.

Excellent
I love this product. Works great! Keeps undesirable weeds from growing. I use it in my vegetable garden after my veggies have sprouted and are a good height to not be affected by the Preen. Just don’t it on your veggie plants; water after applying to wash off any that might’ve inadvertently gotten the plant’s leaves. It keeps the weeds from overtaking the area, and cuts down on having to weed all season. Great around established perennials and annuals.

Saves me a lot of work year around.
Here in California weeds no know off season. I use Preen in my gardens both spring and fall. I avoid weeds and junk plants year around. I can not plant seeds as it is not selective as to what seeds will be allowed. It does not effect plants that are already in the garden and any newly planted plants.

Works Okay As A Weed Reducer... But Rather Pricey!
After reading the many positive reviews about Preen, I decided to purchase a 5 lb. container. I have a new construction home with large areas of bedding plants as landscaping. The plants are growing quite well... but so are the weeds. I needed some help in controlling these unwelcome little pests. As clearly stated on the packaging, Preen is only a weed preventer. It does not kill existing weeds. To be effective, ALL weeds must first be completely removed (including the roots). This was no small chore. The weeds in my front landscaping had been growing for several months... right along with my bedding plants. However, after several days of my weed pulling, the front yard areas were totally weed free. The 5 lb. Preen container has a flip-down spreader built into the top lid. It actually works surprisingly well for smaller areas. After applying 5 pounds around one area, I decided to purchase an additional 22 lb. bag (a bit spendy) to finish the job. To apply Preen on larger areas, I used my new Scotts Wizz electric hand-held spreader -- a fantastic upgrade over my old hand crank spreader. The 5 lb. container plus an entire 22 lb. bag was required to treat my front landscaping with proper coverage. This turned out to be a bigger expense than the coverage calculations suggested. As directed, I thoroughly watered after applying Preen. After one month, some new weed growth was obvious. Naturally, these weeds needed to be removed by hand. By the second and third month after applying Preen, the frequency of weed growth is about 50% less than before Preen. I am still routinely pulling weeds, but about half as many.Does Preen work as advertised? Maybe. There are no signs of Dandelions, so it seems Preen is more effective on some weeds than on others. However, about a half-dozen different types of weeds continue to sprout -- but the weed population is about half the number compared to before using Preen.By my math, a gardener charges $160 to come out and weed my front landscaping. The required amount of Preen costs about half of that amount -- and is effective for about 3 months. If I place any value on the hour or so it takes me to thoroughly apply Preen weed preventer (not counting my weed pulling time), it's about a break-even proposition. I suspect I may be just trading dollars when purchasing Preen... but I'm pulling about half as many weeds. Go figure?

Seems to be working…
I put this down about 6 weeks ago and hardly any weeds in the flowerbed. The only place I have 1-2 is right up next to the foundation and that was probably my fault with the application. I will be sure to spread it every 3 months and reply back.
