It's a coat
You start working in this thing and it's instant sweat. It's WARM. Nice work, Carhartt. And it sheds water like the Detroit Lions shed success.

This Hoody is a Homerun!
I was a bit turned off by the price, but tried it anyway and I'm so glad I did. I love it and wear it all the time.Fit: I'm 5'11" and around 220 lbs and bought this in large. I wear medium to large in most things, but too many pull-ups have made it so a lot of things are tight in the arms and back, so t-shirts I tend to go with XL. This fits perfectly. It doesn't feel snug in the back when I reach forward, and the sleeves don't ride up. There's plenty of room inside for layers and does sometimes get bulky in the car, although as it breaks in that's becoming less of an issue.Warmth: I really like the quilted insulation. It's not too warm to wear around the house, although if I'm working on something it usually has to come off. The first time I wore it outdoors I went out for a hike in the rain. It's a Rain Defender, what could go wrong? Well, nothing went wrong. It was 34 and rain/snow/slush and I wore this over a t-shirt and was perfectly comfortable for an hour, hour and a half. Since then I've worn it in rain and snow and wind, down to single digits and in most cases a t-shirt is adequate underneath. If I'm just standing around, I need an extra layer.Water repellent: As mentioned above, it's been good in light rain and in snow. Snowblowing and shoveling it's the bee's knees, although it can be a little warm if I don't pace myself. It's not a rain coat, so I wouldn't expect it to keep me dry in a downpour, but it's kept me dry so far.Hood: Oversized so it fits well over a hat. In a strong wind it can blow off, but most of the time it stays put just fine.Pockets: I like the zippered chest pocket for my phone, keys, or wallet. The side pockets are pretty loose and I would not trust them to keep things secured. In fact I lost my keys in the snow while starting the snowblower one day. But my biggest beef is the little pocket inside the right hand pocket. I like that it exists, but it's so open that my hand always goes into it instead of the main pocket, and I have to consciously get my hand in the right one. It's not bad when you're just putting your hand there to warm up, but when you need to stick something in your pocket real quick, it wants to go into the wrong one.Durability: It's still too new to comment on the durability, but I don't treat it with kid gloves and so far there are no signs of wear.Zipper: YKK zipper, so no issues there. It zips up just a little bit higher than "normal", which is really nice for keeping the cold out. The pull is a good size for use with gloves.TL/DR: Excellent sweatshirt that I would buy again. My only beef is with the side pockets that aren't very secure, and with that smaller inner pocket on the right that my hand always goes into instead of the main pocket. But overall I'm very satisfied. I wear it around the house and as a coat.

This one is by far the best.
I have multiple hooded sweatshirts. This one is the best by far. Carhartt makes a comfortable relaxed fit coat.

Pretty good
Took to long to receive I will have to wait for it to get cold to really try out. It's a Carhart so there's no question it will last for a while under normal circumstances

Just great!
I’m actually wearing this jacket while writing this review. Anyway, this is my second Rain Defender Rockland Quilt jacket I’ve owned. The first had to be retired after over 5 years of near-constant wear. Here in Southeast Alaska the weather can be a bit unpredictable. The mornings are chilly even in summertime. The rain starts then stops before you even realize it started, though it’s rarely a torrential downpour. This jacket fits that bill perfectly. The Rain Defender treatment beads up light rain just as the marketing says, and it’s just so darned comfortable. The quilt extends from the body all the way out to the sleeves, and, layered over a long sleeved t-shirt, keeps me warm in near freezing temperatures. On the few days the temperature dropped into the teens, I stayed warm wearing this jacket, a long sleeved t-shirt, and a thermal.I love the pockets as well. My older jacket didn’t have the new, outer chest pocket over the left pectoral, so that was a welcome addition. The small, ‘tech pocket’ stitched into the lower right hand pocket doesn’t get much use from me personally, but it’s nice to have options. The inner chest pocket holds my minimalist wallet very well, and is definitely my favorite pocket of them all.Overall, this is a great jacket that punches well above its weight class at this price point. I liked my first one so much, I ordered two to replace it! One stays at work and the other stays home.

Totally worth it.
Purchased this in M. Great for arms and body. Quite a bit of room underneath for layering which I don’t mind. But if you’d want snug fit go a size lower than you might normally go for.Brilliantly warm. I’ve been working on site the last few weeks with 5-6 layers of clothing on to keep warm. Now with this I o my need at shirt underneath.- it’s that warm!Haven’t had it in the rain yet so can’t comment on that ans only been wearing for a week so can’t comment on durability but seems week made and sturdy.Love the pockets. Storm flaps on hand warmers can be a tad annoying when you use pocket for screws etc but you get used to it.Nice big hood too.I can see this being my go to hoodie for all the winter.

Warm and good quality but too big
Length wise it is good but too baggy for my liking. Good if you are going to wear lots of undergarments though.

Bought this jacket a while back. It's definitely a heavy duty jacket, but very stylish.
